Idly looking up the notable alumni of the secondary school my nephew is going to next year and…oh dear. As if I didn’t already think a private all-boys school wasn’t a great shout.

Last term I tried an experiment: I walked into my Tech and Design Ethics class, admitted that I had *no idea* what to do about ChatGPT - so I would let them figure it out.

As in: their first project was to decide and write the ChatGPT policy for the class.

Here's what happened:

Ooooh very excited bc I might go to Australia this year (having vowed to cool it on the big holidays after South Korea in 2024 and Canada last year, so I think we can all agree I am v good at keeping vows).

I wore a (nice) bit of jewellery that my (not nice) ex gave me for the whole weekend, thinking enough time had passed to cleanse it - and then I had horrid dreams about all the vile things said ex did last night. Can you sage jewellery? How do I remove these bad vibes?

Finished Love Forms by Claire Adam last night in a race against the library due date clock, and loved it - strong recommend. Now to read my book club book before book club on Sunday…apparently I require a deadline to focus.

The true danger of 2026 is not a battle between competence and incompetence. It is a battle between Exhausted Competence and Energetic Chaos.

Update: by putting this out into the universe yesterday, I won a Lucky Dip, so I’m going to claim that as a partial success (tho do feel if the universe was going to overcorrect, I would have preferred it went towards the jackpot, not away…).
Yes, this too! And to let the universe know, I’m not greedy, I don’t need the jackpot, just £1m will do thanks 😂

With one day of work remaining for me in 2025, my current career plan is simply ‘try to win the lottery so I can just quit and never go back’.

Trying to talk myself out of buying a Steam deck (that I have not budgeted for) which I mostly want to buy to manage my anxiety about spending a week (a WEEK) with my boyfriend’s family over Christmas 😰 surely I would be fine if I had a new toy and some games?? Surely then??

So love wobbegongs. Everything is good about the wobbegong. Its name. Its flattened Oscar the Grouch face. Its frondy bits. Its lazy life as a hungry rug. And it’s a shark. Outstanding animal 10/10
The Tasselled Wobbegong is a master of disguise that can eat a fish almost as big as itself in one gulp. It's classified as a shark, but when it lays on the sea floor it looks like a harmless rug if you manage to see it. But with powerful jaws and sharp teeth they are no fish to mess with.

Will there ever be a time when I don’t secretly yearn for a locked Livejournal? Just set up a Substack, refused to share my contacts & somehow it still suggested I link up with an old manager and someone I went on one date with 10+ years ago. I don’t want to be discoverable! I want to be secret!

Only my recollection of how shit retail jobs are stopped me from resigning without a job to go to yesterday and tbh, it’s still on the table.

Other than reality-esque tv I’ve taken the stance that it’s too hard to sift for quality when tv is new and there’s so much of it, so I’m watching stuff from the early/mid-2010s that people deem to still be good (The Americans, Justified, The Fall) and it’s working out well!

Absolutely obsessed with Celebrity Traitors after just one episode. what a great little tv run it’s been recently with Sewing Bee and Bake-Off and Celebrity Traitors!

I love hedgehogs so much I could cry, strong motivation for ‘should I move and have a garden’ is just so I could maybe have hedgehog sightings occasionally.
Doomscrolling break. Especially for everyone facing deadlines and challenges, I offer you this small, persevering hedgehog by way of encouragement and inspiration. #TinyJoys

Forever trying to decide if I want to move out of the city and live by the sea, or stay adjacent to the city but move somewhere quieter & with a garden, or just stay where I am near lots of cool stuff. How does anybody KNOW what kind of life they would like the most??
