Time for this 74 year old out of touch Senator to step aside. If he doesn't, it is time to push him out the door.
“If Schumer really wanted to use his considerable influence and leverage to stop this, he could have done that,” a senior Democratic Senate aide tells Zeteo. “He didn’t.”
Furious Liberals Call for Schumer to Step Aside, Senate Dems Mostly Quiet
After their shutdown surrender, liberal lawmakers are begging their base to unite behind them anyway – as Trumpland celebrates that their opposition is a bunch of 'p*ssies.'

Schumer has to go. As do all his lieutenants.
Schumer allows a provision to go into the supposedly “clean” CR to allow people like Ted Cruz to file lawsuits for money over Jack Smith’s J6 investigation. Amazing Dem leadership in the senate. Thanks Chuck!

So brilliant!! As an individual i‘ll have so much power against the health insurance industry!
Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

Of course. Anyone who failed to call for new leadership would have voted yes. Spoiler, not a single dem senator has called for Schumer’s head. Vote them all out.
Yup. I said this earlier today, but it was only a guess. Thanks for confirming it. It is no coincidence that of the 8 who came forward to do this, none of them are running in 2026. But they ran cover for some who are.

One quibble here… Schumer orchestrated this entire thing along with his leadership team. Remove them all, including my Senator from Minnesota @klobuchar.senate.gov
Senate Democrats walked away empty-handed, and don’t let anyone tell you different.
Tim Kaine and the others bought the lie that Republicans would negotiate on extending the ACA subsidies. They won’t.
Dems got played, Schumer failed to keep his caucus together, and the American people got nothing.

I called my two dem senators out on this.
Not a single Democratic Senator who voted NO on surrender with strongly worded posts, statements, emails, videos etc has publicly called on Schumer to resign as the Leader of the Democratic caucus. It’s telling. They are all mostly cowards - followers of public opinions instead of being leaders.
Here are the at least 6 House Democrats, 3 Democratic-aligned organizations, and 4 Democratic Senate candidates calling for Chuck Schumer to resign as leader:

Go away @kaine.senate.gov. What an abomination and embarrassment you are. Capitulate lately?
Kaine on why he thinks just getting a vote on healthcare is a win: "We're the minority party, but everybody will get to see who is standing for them when it comes to lowering their healthcare costs"

There are plenty of other dems not up for election in 2026 who did not vote for this. And at least one who earlier this year announced she would not be running again and who voted against this.
This isn’t just about the eight Senate Democrats who surrendered. 👇

Standing up to bullies and tyrants always works, it is the only thing that works. Expecting no pain when you stand up to bullies and tyrants is unrealistic. I presume Senator King knows this but if not that does not reflect well upon him.

Agree 100%
Tonight’s Senate vote on the federal government shutdown should have been a time for strength.
Instead we saw capitulation and a betrayal of working Americans.
The American people need more from their leaders.

Call out the Dem Senators voting for this absolute capitulation then. Call out the games being played by Schumer and Dem leadership then. Absent you doing that, we know you are part of this disgrace!
In every other budget impasse or shutdown there were negotiations and compromise with the White House. I am committed to lowering health care costs and will do everything I can to get this done.

Great, you're not voting on it, but we know the game being played here. Yes, focus on the administration but absent a more forceful renunciation of Schumer and Dem leadership just shows you are part of the game.
I will not support this bill that completely fails to help Americans afford their health care.
Trump and R’s have more than doubled Americans’ health care premiums, and for 40 days they have refused to lift a finger to do a thing about it. In fact, they’ve made it worse by taking food from kids.

Not just a mistake, a total failure of leadership. Yes, focus on the administration but more forceful renunciation of Schumer and Dem leadership is in order.
Allowing this to pass is a mistake.

BS games by Dem leadership...
There is no Dem who thinks that Schumer voting No washes his hands of it. He is the captain of the ship and owns the process and end result. If he can’t run the team, then someone else needs to. Hopefully the other Dem senators understand the mood of the voters. If not, you will.

Was the thought process going into this that Dem voters would be satisfied with an appearance of resistance? That we would say, well, you guys tried really hard & we give you an A for effort? Because my opinion is that performative drama is the MAGA brand, it should not be ours.

Please don’t think this beltway game of having retiring Dem senators vote yes while everyone else votes no is going to shield leadership from the end result. We see what is happening and can’t be fooled by those games.

If they weren't doing anything wrong, they would not cover up their faces.
ICE agents in Chicago violently detain a non verbal autistic man for being “non compliant”
He couldn’t “comply” because of his disability…they don’t care
This is not the first time they’ve gone after a disabled person
They target the most vulnerable because it’s an easy way to meet their quota

When Democrats lose an election, we beat ourselves up over it for months.
When Republicans lose an election, they convince themselves within 24 hours that they really won.
