Let's note that Christopher Caldwell, who gets to defend Hegseth’s rabidly bigoted, sexist speech in the New York Times, wrote a whole book about how the Civil Rights Act constitutes an illegitimate departure from the Constitution.

So, of course he is on board with imposing white male domination.

This is 100% right. But it’s not just Justice Thomas. Kavanaugh, Gorsuch and Roberts all make the case (intentionally or not) for reparative policies that target descendants of those enslaved or otherwise harmed by racist govt action.

I understand the impulse to highlight the acceptable things that can be found in the "compact" and imagine how those could be built on.

But those elements are a disguise. The gov't doesn't care about them. The *purpose* of the compact is unconstitutional federal control over higher education.
