Great movie! I was going to write about this one soon.

But in "a much bluer 2026," a good candidate--that is, that thing Allred isn't--could win.

Really love Schaffenberger's work. I always got a kick out of a (silly) tale he drew in Superman #126, where Superman was pranking Lois (by means of teaching her a lesson for bad behavior) and purported to reveal his secret identity--he pulled off a Superman mask and was Alfred E. Neuman underneath!

Allred is a "New Democrat" clown who lost to even the widely-despised Ted Cruz by nearly 10 points only last year. Why would anyone think he'd do any better?

It happened a few days ago.

And the Dems have already committed to providing extra resources for the next reelection campaigns of 8 of those voting "present," via the DCCC's "Frontline" list.

Ain't politics grand?

That's who nearly all of them were. A brief thread that provides a breakdown:
bsky.app/profile/jrid...
There are 3 major Big-Money-backed Dem caucuses in congress devoted to essentially turning the Democratic party into the Republican party: the Blue Dog Coalition, the New Democrat Coalition and the Problem Solvers Caucus. All but one of these "Democrats" is a member of one or more of those caucuses.
23 Democrats vote NO on Trump impeachment. The man is literally enacting fascism, funding genocide, abandoning our allies, and invading Venezuela—& they’re fine with that. Primary every one of these fascism enablers. Vote them out of office. Who needs MAGAs with Complicit Corporate Democrats? ⬇️

A quick scan (which--important caveat--may not provide a full accounting) shows all but 10 of those voting "present" came from one or more of the conservative caucuses: 33 of them from the New Democrat Coalition, 6 Problem Solvers and 1 Blue Dog.
December 15, 2025 at 11:01 PM
Among those voting "present" is the entire House Dem leadership: Dem leader Hakeem Jeffries, whip Katherine Clark, caucus chair Pete Aguilar, vice-chair Ted Lieu, and DCCC chair Suzan DelBene, along with former Dem leaders Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer.
December 15, 2025 at 10:53 PM
To continue... In addition to those Dems who voted to straight-up table impeachment, there were 47 more Dems who voted "present," which is essentially the same as voting to table.
December 15, 2025 at 9:58 PM
Yep, there was, for Dems, no downside to supporting this, while declining to support it is, in effect, giving a stamp of approval to Trump's actions.

Then it would have been ok to vote for it. This refusal to hold him accountable even by a vote enrages me.

Because that's just who he is. A brief thread covering this:

Harris lost simply because of Biden. A smarter, better politician could have salvaged that but she was neither. And Clinton just sucked--a dumpster fire from the day she entered the race. She got marginally more votes than Trump (though still with a majority voting against her) but he's a joke.
December 15, 2025 at 9:19 PM
You're certainly right about the first part; that should have been the top priority of whoever the next president was. In the case of Biden, the failure to do so was particularly egregious, as he didn't really have anything else in mind for his presidency.
December 15, 2025 at 9:15 PM
It's an entirely unserious list, insanely overranking (and badly ranking) relatively recent presidents.
December 15, 2025 at 9:13 PM
(You're not supposed to mention that part.)
December 15, 2025 at 9:09 PM
"PA, MI, WI were close enough that this made the difference."

That's not how Clinton lost those states.
