Google doesn't have a compelling alternative to Mac OS and is actively destroying the best feature that differentiates Android from iOS.

Apple is more than safe for now.
Google + Apple resulted in Google's search expanded reach. Now we're adding AI to the mix. Apple still controls distribution of the entire Apple ecosystem.

Unless people stop using iPhones and Macs, then this is no different than any other Apple partnership including Google Maps and Intel chips.
Google is doing to Apple with AI what Apple did to Microsoft with smartphones

The accounts the new, official #ICE account follows on #bluesky feels like when your insecure ex creates a new anonymous account to follow you and your friends to see what you're saying about them after everyone blocked them.

Why is no one selling a robot lawn mower that looks like a Spice harvester? Or even a C&C tiberium harvester?

Donald #Trump is not eligible to be the President of #Venezuela.

He is a convicted felon, and not a Venezuelan citizen by birth.

He has just obliterated an chance of finding an impartial jury.
After viewing the clip of the event which took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota- he then proceeds to lie about EVERYTHING in it, aside from the fact that it is, indeed, "a horrible thing to watch."

I haven't seen an Australian political response this spineless since John Howard agreed to follow George W Bush's invasion of the Middle East after 9/11. #auspol #Venezuela @albomp.bsky.social

So Trump illegally bypassed Congress to use military force on a foreign nation, lied about the reason for attacking Venezuela, and abducted the President of Venezuela? How is he still in power?

I am certain something would change if Grok was used to create images that upset Elon Musk—images of Teslas or Space X rockets on fire, his partner or children in compromising scenarios, etc—and they were posted en-mass all over Twitter in the same way these harassment images are.
So we just accept this then? This is a legitimate use of technology going forward? This vile individual's account is just prompt after prompt asking Al to alter real-life images of women. The law needs to catch up with technology now - because we can't trust these tech companies to police themselves

Great way to look at it. A little friction now will encourage us to fix issues while they are still small.
I know there was a lot of noise around Google's auto opt-in for smart features and how inbox is garbage when they're disabled, but I've kicked myself to unsubscribe from so much bullshit since deciding to keep em off.

Welcoming some tech friction in the new year to reduce passive noise.

The social media ban was bad enough, now the government is forcing search engines to censor search results unless you're logged in to an age verified account...

Its morons like this that are responsible for the global economy's current state
FOX: If you cut something by 100%, the cost goes down to 0. If you cut it by 600%, the drug companies are actually paying you

LUTNICK: What he's saying is if a drug was $100 and you bring it down to $13, it's down 7 times

F: Not a 600% cut

L: But it's 700% higher price before. It's down 700% now

I think we need to replace "The future is female" with "The future needs to be female"
Just say women. This is taking forever.

2025 has been a hard slog. Work has been non-stop urgent projects for the last 14 months, with more planned til mid 2026.

Family health has put massive amounts of stress and strain on us too.

Well overdue a break, to rest and recover, but can't see it happening for a while.

Openly admitting to unjustified atrocitiesagainst humanity.
WELKER: Is there any hard evidence showing this particular boat was headed to the US?

TOM COTTON: That didn't come up in my briefing

WELKER: Are you comfortable having the US target a boat that you're not sure is heading to the US?

COTTON: I'm not just comfortable with it -- I want to continue it

Why do Americans call it lasagna (singular) instead of lasagne (plural)? They don't do that with any other pasta.

Having finished Outer Worlds 2 on Xbox where I unlocked a significant number central story line achievements as "rare" (less than 10% of players who have started the game for the achievement), I've now realised that Xbox as a platform doesn't have the player numbers I thought it did.

I used to think all the tech companies cozying up to Trump were doing it to curry favour and avoid regulation, but recent news shows that at least some of them are doing it because that is their natural alignment.

Can we go back to Winamp/Sonique, Litestep, MirandaIM, and web forums? Where everything was customisable, we owned things (rather than just licensing them), and nothing was centralised.

I answered "yes, but I don't do that any more"
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!
