Yes, the way we teach this stuff makes it seem like we can win by memes & PR stunts. I only recently learned the peace activists burning draft records weren't just making a symbolic statement. The draft board didn't have copies - every file destroyed was a man who'd never be called up to war.

My sweet dog came home from the vet hospital with discharge instructions including a page-long list of medications. I made a spreadsheet and I'm absolutely going to use this to teach about the purpose of tables.

Not to disagree with your point about humans, but the Jewish god, a.k.a. the god of the Old Testament, it’s not actually crueler than the Christian god. We literally just finished a holiday that is entirely about mercy and forgiveness.

My sweet boy is still in the hospital with pancreatitis, but today I got some pictures of him and a tiny walk outside! We are so lucky to live close to Angell Animal Hospital, and I am so grateful for their care.

This week I’m having the new and unpleasant experience of managing my very sick dog‘s care at the vet hospital, and I honestly feel like THE PITT has done the most to give me a narrative & institutional framework for understanding and dealing with this. Stories are amazing, y’all.
