Klarna is heading for a U.S. IPO – a sign of Europe’s struggle to keep its most promising companies. In my op-ed in Dagens Industri today, I argue that a unified capital market, a European corporate form, and stronger stock exchanges are needed to change this. www.di.se/debatt/sa-fa...

They were not, but one implication of this research is that there was enough surplus to go around such that workers could have been be compensated entirely for their losses. Going forward, this is a good argument for more support for incumbent workers in future privatizations!

My paper with Martin Olsson is now available as open-access early view at the Journal of Finance. We find that privatization lifted productivity while trimming headcount. The productivity gains exceeded worker losses by two-to-six times.

👏 Good news for researchers working with Swedish register data and who want their research to be reproducible 👉 If you include in your ethics application/research plan that replication may be part of the project, then external replicators (e.g. data editors) can be given access to the data!

Reading Henrik Meinander's insightful book on Finnish history, I discovered a fascinating fact: Anders Chydenius wrote about the 'invisible hand' concept a decade before Adam Smith. As an Ostrobothnian economist, this piece of history fills me with immense pride. 🤓 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anders_...
