One ‘minor’ point from the SC ruling: no one asked any trans people if they were prepared to accept it and comply.

Because I sure am not!!!

I may have a copy on one of the two laptops at home. Currently not near them (in airport waiting for flight home!)
I’ll check when I get back.

We all too often forget about the joy of being trans when we advocate on social media.

Being trans is beautiful. The first time someone calls you, 'she' feels like sunlight.

Let's share our joy 🏳️‍⚧️

Oh, and white crusty bread with butter. Our whole family loves the crust so we’d slice an uncut loaf all around so we all had a share of the crusts.

Now I’ve read through and laughed at many, here’s an input from the UK - condensed milk. Straight from the can, or scooped out with shortbread fingers

Back in my childhood we occasionally had con milk sandwiches too.

That’s not a rant. It’s far too short!

Also it’s 100% correct. We must work together to fight extremism on all sides of the policy debate. The far left are jut as hard line but have no voice at the moment.

We must work together and fight intersectionally! Sometimes that means we must draw attention to our struggles, and that's right to do so. But sometimes it's about recognising what else is going on too. I don't mean we all have to post about everything, we all have our capacity for what we can do.

Time based inclusion is also time based segregation. Segregation is apartheid by another name. Both are not valid in a progressive society.

“Another degrading possibility… is to allocate times during which the ponds will be trans-inclusive.”

Imagine scheduling time to “allow” black, disabled, lesbian, or Jewish women to use the pond - outside of that time, they’d be banned because of the ‘feelings’ of a group of privileged white women!
The Hampstead Heath ponds debate sets a dangerous precedent for trans rights
Trans rights are being debated, again.

Since 1980, the ECHR has heard just 29 UK immigrant deportation case, and the UK won 16 of them. Quitting will make no material difference to immigration, just weaken protections for absolutely everybody in this country. But Farage and the Tories know that.

England households could bigger water bills as the competition regulator prepares to give verdict on industry appeal.

36% rise already approved by OFWAT.

People will continue to be robbed. Companies raise capital from customers, shareholders get returns.

End the scam. Nationalise water.

I'm old enough to remember when we privatised the water companies so that we could increase the investment in infrastructure.
We haven't had a single reservoir built since, our pipes still leak & we are releasing ever increasing amounts of sewage into rivers. Privatisation has failed.

Won't hike taxes the rich or curb profiteering.

The state we're in

UK full-time employee median wage, £30,816.
4.5m jobs pay less than the real Living Wage.
1.17m workers on zero-hour contracts.
34% of Universal Credit claimants are in work.
16m Britons live in poverty.

Can't build economy on poverty.

Must increase worker share of GDP.
The government must ensure fair distribution of income
'The average real wage of workers has hardly moved from the 2008 level whilst bosses never had it so good.'

Real term wages have to increase and companies must reward workers fairly. As one poster says, the median wage should be +£40000 and long term stagnation has only benefited the rich.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

Firms running hotels make vast profits, while often providing appalling conditions.
People seeking asylum don't choose to get stuck in hotels. Firms choose to make money off their lives, and governments choose to pay them rather than implement better alternatives.

The UK household debt is over £2 trillion.

Debt once public now loaded to households e.g. student debt. Energy debt rising. People borrowing for healthcare.

Mortgages 7 times salary being issued. Soaring rents.

Real average wage stuck at the 2008 level.

What could go wrong?

I hold doors for people, I carry things for people. Somehow, that doesn't also make me a twat about other things with a need to cry about it all in the Mail on Sunday across three pages.
Woke feminists and man-bun metrosexuals may sneer. But flirting, holding open doors and lugging bags of compost from the car isn’t toxic masculinity... It’s just being a man
