The first measles death in the US in a decade -- the tragic, preventable death of a child whose parents chose not to protect them with vaccination -- should spark an immediate nation-wide campaign to ensure all children are protected against preventable diseases. Anything less is unconscionable.

Asexual people are not a disease. We are not a malady. We are not deficient. We are part of the human sexuality spectrum. Everyone is different, and asexuality is a natural variance to it. People who claim they want to "cure" us are hateful mossbacks, full stop.

Thankfully we have decades of recorded history of queer people navigating society that wanted us erased and dead to pick up those awesome life hacks

The nice thing about being the tech person for my (small) org is that I can make sure it’s off for everybody.

Hey everyone, I know it's going to be a busy day for a lot of people, but Google enrolled everyone over 18 into their Al program automatically.

If you have a google account, first go to gemini.google.com/extensions and turn everything off.

Then you need to go to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini and turn off all Gemini activity tracking. You do have to do them in that order to make sure it works.

Honestly, I'm not sure how long this will last, but this should keep Gemini off your projects for a bit.

I saw this over on bluesky and figured it would be good to spread on here. It only takes a few min to do.

There’s only a few hours left of the 2025 Project for Awesome, but there’s still time to tune in!

So far, we’ve raised over $3.25 million! 25% of that goes to Partners in Health, another 25% to Save the Children!

If you want to donate, vote for charities, or watch, head to projectforawesome.com!

I then switched topics to discuss a crash course in the Congressional Appropriations process and our goals for the next few meetings.

We plan to use the VD cards for our upcoming fundraiser, and next week we will be having a letter-writing party and call-a-thon so Congress hears our voices! ✨

I was so excited to speak at @partnersinhealth.bsky.social Engage’s U Chicago chapter today, and the meeting went so well!!

I taught a brief history of TB (focusing on its romanticized, racialized, and gendered nature in the 1800s), while the rest of our group made Valentine’s Day cards!

This is 67 cases--a tiny fraction of TB's global burden, which exceeds 10,000,000 active cases per year.

But the longer we allow a curable illness to infect and kill millions, the more TB we'll see in the U.S. Tuberculosis is an airborne disease, and TB anywhere is a threat to humans everywhere.

It took so long because I was buddy reading it so I only read like 1-3 chapters a week for several months😂

Danaher promised to release an audit of the cost of production of their GeneXpert tests. Over a year later, they still haven't made the audit public.

Just so they don't forget, we've added a new feature to tbfighters.org. No need to thank us, Danaher!
A graphic that reads, "Days since Danaher promised an audit: 487 and counting..." The number 487 is stylized like a flip counter.
