Sounds about right
I have previously written that in the Labour party, caring about foreign policy usually means one of four things: "I am an Atlanticist"; "I, or my constituents, have strong feelings about Israel-Palestine"; "I really like Europe"; or "I worked in international development before I was an MP". Several Labour MPs got in touch to point out, quite rightly, that I had missed out a category: "I used to be a soldier". There are exceptions, but there aren't a whole lot of Labour MPs with a deep interest in foreign policy.

Must admit I thought we covered all this when there were reports a few years back that Sunak was apparently going to let an elderly Tory MP retire to the Lords so Boris Johnson could have his seat and then run for the leadership against him.
