Has anybody thought to do a double feature of THE SUBSTANCE (2024) and HEAVENLY BODIES (1984)? It works!

Reminder on World AIDS Day—

I am 55, and I remember the grim death sentence of AIDS in the 80s/90s, I lost SO MANY people. Funerals almost every week. People I loved were considered disposable.
A little reminder: when AIDS was new, and considered “the gay plague” economists Richard Posner & Tomas Philipson gave cost saving advice to the Reagan administration - let them die, because it will be cheaper and save on Medicaid and Social Security payouts.

Simon and Garfunkel aka Pierre and Tilda, staring at the recent snowfall, wishing it would go away. (Pierre still goes outside to survey periodically throughout the day.)

It’s not Christmas until the Fortnum and Mason package of seasonal goodies arrives! I’m not allowed to touch the Christmas Reindeer Noses until the 25th! 😂

It’s the time of year where we need to book a trip before my partner’s WestJet companion fare deal expires! Since we’re still avoiding the USA, it came down to Mexico City, Toronto, or Montréal. The winner: Montréal! It’ll have been 8 years since we were last there, but I cannot wait!

Tonight’s Giallo Cinema: THE CASE OF THE BLOODY IRIS (1972), starring my favourite giallo actress (with apologies to Carroll Baker). Kudos to Celluloid Dreams for an outstanding 4K release!

It’s Thanksgiving in America, but it’s Thursday in Canada. Enjoy your turkey, sweet potatoes, and four-down football! 😚

Okay, now it’s time for THE RED QUEEN KILLS SEVEN TIMES—I’ve even adjusted the living room lights to be red.

I should be watching a giallo, but I’m watching bits of 1980s CFL games on YouTube. I need to watch the 1982 game between the Roughriders and the Rough Riders!

Someone should make a documentary about the CFL’s ill-fated American expansion in the 1990s. Are there still fans with merch from the Memphis Mad Dogs? Shreveport Pirates? Sacramento Gold Miners?

RIDERS WIN THE 112th GREY CUP!!!! HAPT BIRTHDAY TO ME!
November 17, 2025 at 2:53 AM
I’ve had the privilege to have watched Saskatchewan in six Grey Cup appearances over the years, from “The Kick” of 1989, the 2007 victory (their first since ‘89), the sting of the “13th Man” penalty that cost them the victory in 2009, to winning at home in Regina in 2013. Good luck today!

Miami Dolphins win in OT in Madrid, so it’s the Roughriders’ turn to win today (and take home the Grey Cup) to make it a perfect football day on my birthday!

This book has been on my wish list, so it’s the perfect time to pick up a copy, which I just did!
It's transgender awareness week, and if you ever wanted to learn more about the history of transness in cinema, you could pick up our book CORPSES, FOOLS AND MONSTERS at your local library or purchase a copy. We wrote this book for trans people like us. Thank you.

Saskatchewan Roughriders score a go-ahead TD with 11 seconds left in the Western Final, downing BC Lions 24-21! Grey Cup bound baby! Love the CFL!

I only started watching horror films again last week (after a few months’ respite), so I think I’ll keep going and politely pass on “Noirvember”—I’m trying to watch all the V/H/S movies again. (How many are there? I own all but the latest one, but I can’t count right now. 😂)
