I’d be surprised if all of these calls have zero effect at this point.

It is abit encouraging though; last time we were waaaaay further along in the process. So I’m guessing we’re having some kind of effect this time.

you can also use this script (with a little adjusting) to call your own Senators and house representatives and tell them that these bills need to be opposed should it come to a vote!

I'd say it is. None of the bills Diesel's written about for Congress have made it out of committee yet. This comes after the news of the Senate KOSA bill losing 'Duty of Care' about a month or so ago.

I know its not great right now, but don't give up. We can absolutely win this.

We can still win this, kosa is EXTREMELY unpopular, and it's lost several times before. But we can't take the chance that it'll fail again, we really do just have to keep telling them fuck no.

yeah, obviously if you have the time and energy and feel confident enough to do so, actually discussing WHY a bill or policy is good or bad is encouraged, but most folks dont, so i always stress that even simplified, truncated messages are still extremely helpful when contacting your reps!

most of these representatives aides are literally taking notes and noting down how many people are calling in to oppose/support various issues in a spreadsheet, and they show that spreadsheet to the rep come time for voting

this is mostly about just showing up in raw numbers!

Alrighty then. I'm writing down a script rn, aka just editing my email so it sounds more natural as a call. I'll try calling later.

Ohhhhh. Ok then, thank you.

I think I can make a call, I've got my email message to read off I guess, but like
Sometimes it feels like I can barely talk to my own friends, let alone a government official.
