The implication here isn't that ICE is wrong, it's that they're killing the wrong people. They're fine when they kill black folks. But when they start killing folks that look like them it's too much.

White people are useless.
Really worth watching this interview with a bystander who witnessed the ICE shooting in Minneapolis: "I'm pretty right-leaning. But seeing this, this is not how we're supposed to be doing things in America.”

USCIS says it will use this pause to conduct a “comprehensive re-review, potential interview, and re-interview of all aliens from [the 19 travel ban countries] who entered the United States on or after January 20, 2021,” or even outside that timeframe “when appropriate.”

NEW: The official USCIS guidance on this pause is out. Until further notice from the USCIS Director, all immigration benefits (including citizenship) are indefinitely suspended for nationals of 19 countries, as are all affirmative asylum applications from nationals of any country.

Much like how anyone born after 1980 has never known a functioning US government, we’ve never known an Israel close to the one our parents grew up with (and yes a lot of that version was heavily propagandized).

Boomers can’t accept that our opinions are shaped by our reality not their memories.
What Hillary is saying here is a conspiracy theory and not even a tame, silly one, but a whopper. A more balefully consequential and widespread one than e.g. Trump complaining that the media lied about his crowds being big.

If I could offer students one bit of…advice: be brutally traditional about what is printed on your degree.

If you are first-gen or in any way non traditional, this goes double. Let rich kids get degrees in AI. You get something called “English”.
The danger is that degrees are regarded as worthless as nobody believes students have acquired any skills any more, at least not ones they couldn't have hot from just going into an office job from school.
In about three years the entire university pivot to AI curricula and schools and programs is going to be so deeply embarrassing. We will all pretend it never happened and I will be standing there, looking at people with a mirror in my eyes. This is all so embarrassing.

The biggest event that turned white people away from democratic candidates and which is at the root of their animosity is the civil rights act. That is the essential anger. There has been a change but it’s no surprise why Black people vote one way and white people the other.
The 2006 reauthorization of the VRA passed 390-33 in the House and 98-0 in the Senate when both were controlled by Rs. GWB signed it. Conservatives have never full-throatedly supported racial and gender inclusion - that's why they're conservatives! - but there has undeniably been a change.
