I mean, look at Bayers. So ✨

Like this all the way down.

#hfxws Pretty impressed with my afternoon ride, mostly. Bayers MUP is absolutely pristine. So are connections and cuts! Bikeways great.

Almon … half of it is great. The other half is a disaster. We moved a large boulder (pictured) out of the way but it’s very slushy.

Windsor, nada as well.

#hfxws

Was worried Bayers MUP would be covered in black ice but what’s there is distinguishable. Thin slush layer means slow going tho. Connections to COLT are pristine ✨

I managed to take a picture of Liverpool pathway to add to your report (forgot to post it with mine)

#hfxws Afternoon and evening report combined:

Bayers - Good with some tight spots. Black ice looks to be forming overnight.

Almon - Sadface (attached, reported to 311). Remaining lanes were passable but sloppy. Black ice forming

Dutch Village Rd - good! Some tight spots.

The #hfxws had almost full peninsula coverage this morning?? And Dartmouth too! Incredible!

My immediate addition is a bike ride to Canada Games Centre from Fairview. Was pleased to see Mainland trail and connections mostly good. Bit more beat up closer to CGC tho.

Cold and crunchy at the gardens today.
January 24, 2026 at 4:03 PM
#hfxws This may be unpopular but I'm gonna give the city a passing grade, given my kids and I were able to bike without any major issues both this morning and aft.

Exceptions: Almon is 1/2 clean, 1/2 coated in black ice; no salt. I guess plow can't fit in certain parts?

Even Liverpool was "good"!

We also sometimes design residential roads very poorly. Starboard drive being a good example of this (this could fit 6 lanes of vehicles how wide it is?!)

And people wonder why our residential streets are devoid of life.

Plenty of #BikeHfx parking behind and adjacent to the new Espresso 46 location 🙂 (I think opening in Spring alongside their Warehouse Market counterpart)

Looking forward to continued pedestrian/human-focused improvements to this district. Lots of work left to do.

Beauty day for a family bike day.

Running to Access Nova Scotia is hilariously (and frustratingly) bad 😬
January 9, 2026 at 1:37 PM
#hfxws 9am: Not many surfaces treated. The sun is working hard to help us out here and get the thin layer of ice melted. Ran through North End and Downtown. 95% ok but surprising spots (eg pictures) — again, slowly disappearing as the sun gets higher 🌞

No wind. I suspect afternoon will be wonderful

Purple Cow Fibre in Fairview is good for me atm. Although I did get a notice (also attached)
January 7, 2026 at 10:06 PM
#hfxws Mixed bag of slippery-ness. Had to detour my run to the COLT as I couldn’t get consistent traction on sidewalks. I was surprised at the amount of cyclists who passed me along the trail!
January 6, 2026 at 11:22 AM
This is accurate. Ran from Fairview to Banook. Bayers MUP was paved but not salted so somewhat slippery. Nothing on Almon, Wyse. Bridge is great ofc #hfxws

he already did

These are nice notes about Halifax, thank you for sharing this!

Was in Pittsburgh about 6 years ago staying in the pictured area, heading downtown each day. Had a similar fun time exploring the city and appreciating how the geographical constraints/decisions have shaped your city.

Two cats, perhaps friends, enjoying the quiet streets on Christmas morning; west end Halifax.

In Polish school a few weeks back, my kid learned a bit about the history of Santa and they spoke to the image of Claus popularized by the Coca Cola company. So now he’s curious if Santa will prefer a classic coke over milk (or maybe both?)

I appreciate his experimental thinking! Merry Christmas 🎄

#BikeHfx I've requested bike parking at Horseshoe Island Park. This is a quaint spot for picnics, fishing, and a quiet moment by the water. There is about a dozen parking spots for vehicles, nada for bikes

If you agree, send an email! www.halifax.ca/transportati...

Gonna guess there’ll be half a dozen photos of this work today. It has indeed begun!
December 13, 2025 at 12:48 PM
The Narrows now has #BikeHfx parking at their front doors (note: on public sidewalk, not their property). Previously quite the deadzone!

Go get yer fish and chips 😄👍

COLT is good as of 8am today (Wed) Just has the light dusting but there’s salt and not cold enough overnight to cause black ice here, at least. No significant piles of slush. #hfxws
