This is such a hilarious statement. I feel seen in it. I think I'm 50/50 infrastructure & kids across my entire photo library

Excuses from city:

Overhead lights are fine, mostly
We can’t prioritize this yet. There’s a backlog
It’s not in the budget!
Low pedestrian volumes!
Can’t slow down drivers!

Lucky anything will be done here unless someone is severely injured. It’s the Canadian way.

Happens all the time at Joe Howe / Bayers. Then drivers on the opposing intersection are trying to "sneak past" which results in erratic or non-predictable behaviour. It also blocks sight lines for pedestrians/cyclists trying to cross.

It's not only lazy/selfish but dangerous!

Matty always saying what we're all thinking.

Train sucks but the views are good.

The only way to really make it in Halifax is to get a remote gig from an organization based in a larger metro (or the US). Or dual income + some other minor exceptions.

This is less true in places like Toronto/Vancouver with diverse employment sectors.

Gosh I miss these trails. Thank you for posting pics!

If this is a thing I'm definitely gonna snag some post-Dutch Village cleanup. I'll give the crews 5 days to clean up (later this year) :-)

Never a bad time to start! And the BikeHfx folks are helpful w/ tips, tricks, routes, & even gear!

I've heard people share similar before. There seems to be a growing market for hotels to capture demand based on folks not wanting to travel in traffic. Wild!

#BikeHfx folks should all have at minimum 6 pylons in their storage

Biked home, got back in the usual 20 minutes ;-)

Not one for unsolicited parenting advice but my approach, outside of the Nintendo Switch (older kid & his friends like to chat about BoTW etc), my kids only play old consoles. GameBoy, Nintendo DS, and 64 are classics we play atm

That era of games built patience/skill. Not convinced the new does!

Thank you for clarifying

I looked at the picture again and I just realized you're at an info session for it! My bad!

Woah, this is actually happening? Like, shovels are now in the ground?

Ok I'm pretty excited about this episode!

The one day I had to use the car in the afternoon & drive to Clayton Park, I drove through this mess. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as Google Maps is reporting. Police already cordoned the crashed vehicles and it was as usual outbound, but inbound looked much worse!

Just tried it on my usual bike route and it was almost perfect! Took the exact side roads I take (where there is no infra). Only goof was it didn't correctly get off the Bayers MUP and onto Abott, and instead directed me onto Bayers.

Google Maps basically has me ripping down Bayers the entire way 😆

I used to run a pi-hole w/ Tailscale but after I upgraded my home network (new router etc) I didn't want to futz with pi-hole .. lost all context (of course, didn't document the home project)

Thankfully NextDNS has been an even better experience.

Wonder if there's a correlation here w/ ads & tracking, which has absolutely exploded in recent years. I don't observe the same jerkyness w/ Chrome, but I also use NextDNS to block a lot of traffic.

I don't think it's just that, but maybe contributes!

Our bike ride to school (and back home) now includes multiple stops so my daughter can observe "her favourite" halloween decorations (note: she has many favourites 😁)

My favourite bus-only lane experience to date has been taking the bus from Montreal airport into the city. It's 95% dedicated lane and the traffic was absolutely brutal. Flew right by!

It is really, really bad out there right now. No patience, lots of aggression. I don't get it. But I guess that is my privilege.
