And a control centre to monitor traffic and improve flow! Wow. This province is goofed, man.

I did not. Been riding and just got back. If you got it, that’s appreciated. Thank you!

I mean, look at Bayers. So ✨

Like this all the way down.

"Not unless there's about to be a big surge in WFH jobs that let people get big pay while living in idyllic small-town NS."

I'm just being silly, but this seems well supported by the tech talent within Canada (who end up contracting for American companies), hah.

Yeah, thanks. I understand the mechanics. I think I see the concern, in that the program is typically touted as one around affordability but in truth it is amplifying costs (via subsidizing demand as your meme pointed out)

Costs are up, but some got in! Sellers possibly win too, hmm! Not fair :-)
February 3, 2026 at 3:18 PM
In practice, aren't you giving that $1000 to only a percentage of the population? Those who are ready to compete for housing?

I'm not saying it's fair, but some will bite the bullet and enter the market via this program. Is that a bad thing?
February 3, 2026 at 3:10 PM
I used to be on the side that these programs suck, but now I am thinking .. do these hurt anyone? For many, entering the housing market is an excellent retirement plan (forced savings), and this at least gets them in, even if prices are inflated. It evens out over the lifetime of the mortgage.

Thanks a ton!
February 3, 2026 at 11:46 AM
Btw since you were there .. how’s Almon? :) Asking for later this afternoon thanks.
February 3, 2026 at 11:42 AM
Although the BlueSky firehose is pretty satisfying, so Idk :-)

This is a good idea! Click on map/route, option to add photo/report pops up + ability to provide rating. Upload report/photo and that persists for some time post-storm.

Map becomes "source of truth" for clearing

My original response was vague but I was thinking similar in that we are doing this data collection, with some quite structured. There's enough context per most posts to have location + state (via photo)

It would be nice to green/red/yellow areas of the city in terms of clearing state, post-storm.
February 3, 2026 at 11:20 AM
Oh nice, thank you for your service! The lanes look pretty bad down the whole stretch :-(
February 3, 2026 at 2:04 AM
I just drove past this as I was heading home from Dartmouth and was wondering what was up! Were you helping?
February 3, 2026 at 1:58 AM
It’s already happening
February 3, 2026 at 1:51 AM
What I'd like to see is development of the lands in parallel to the construction of the new terminal. I understand this project also bundles a new terminal + other changes downtown (RIP Halifax Ferry Terminal)

Would be odd to have the new terminal + nothing around it for a few years.

I feel as if our mid-sized cities do this much better than our largest. Here in Halifax there's IMO some great mid-rise and "missing middle" development, alongside some recent large (40 story+) developments. Nice mixture!

I've been bitten by the snow plan a few times. Honestly, I don't get their choice of routing during it.
February 2, 2026 at 11:49 AM
This was fun! I didn't realize so much food would be there. Thanks for the hot dogs!

BikeHfx is so welcoming. I showed up late (thought it started at 11am), drove their (lol), and brought nothing (welp). Still, my kiddos had cookies, hot choc, and dogs. Thank you!

I will add something next time :)

Harbourview, The Narrows, Bedford Basin from south to north is how I mentally map it (even if incorrectly)
February 1, 2026 at 10:30 AM
Both sections are now cleared, just in time for the next snow storm. 🌨️ North section is much better done though. Down to pavement. Other side slushy.

Yes I think cataloging data is a good idea. Similar vibes with new #hfxws tag. It’s both immediately useful for folks travelling but also data to review and possibly use to move needle forward.

Does this mean 311 is ignoring you?!
January 31, 2026 at 11:06 AM
Yeah, they seem to use that language often. I drove by the lane just now (after way too many hours at Playdium for a bday party 😵🥴) and it remains untouched.
