Australia stock exchange down 10%; Japan down 8%. Why should the world have to pay for the decisions of a bunch of cult members in America? The rest of the world needs to decouple from the US as an ally as soon as possible.

This. We don’t pay to educate ourselves. Foreigners pay us. It’s not sustainable
I assume foreign student enrollments are going to drop off a cliff, and I assume few people realize how much foreign students subsidize domestic ones.

I think we need to be hearing from historians of McCarthyism. Having basically a president-led smear campaign against private citizens' free expression and association is something new in that respect, but I dunno, not exactly unprecedented in American lfie
