If you see this, quote the energy you bring to Bluesky
The ship's doctor of The Surprise is interrupted in his examination of a creature on the Gallapagos Islands. The good doctor just wants to study flora and fauna but is stuck on a warship during wartime.

Arson, mostly

... some (most?) of the H2 hubs were a political solution to IRA coalition building and a maybe-solution to real problems ...

Still, arson.

I take exception to NYC and Long Island being grouped together.

This is the most accurate depiction of the Midwest to date. Wichita has always felt like the last Midwest city while also being the first plains city.

Question for the #EnergySky lawyers in the room:

Know of any fun* recent examples of a utility commission getting remanded on the grounds that its action/decision/order was unduly preferential or discriminatory?

*not required, but bonus points will be awarded for examples that are more fun

I'll see your "If the Czar only knew"

and I'll raise you with "the Cossacks work for the Czar"

All the posts and reposts of the opinion are great. Everyone should read it. By "everyone" I mean, not just everyone here. I encourage you -- users of this website -- to send it to your friends and family. Hey, print a copy and mail it to Mom.

It isn't lithium ion. It's lithium iron phosphate.

Have you considered embracing the situation and converting your basement into a grotto?

My mother in law just got a Copper range (electric oven, induction cooktop, battery-in-the-bottom so no wiring upgrade required). Results:

(1) she *loves* it; and

(2) the crew that installed her cabinets and the range were impressed (& mildly shocked) that you can just plug it into a wall outlet

I am a moth to the flame of any and all mentions of fear of NYC's subway

"Huh. My kids love the subway. Especially my 3yo."

"The subway moves millions of people daily. Safest mode of travel. It's a miracle."

"See that's how I feel about cars, except people actually die every day bc of cars."

the amount of raw, unadulterated fear that many Americans have of even small cities is never going to stop being darkly hilarious to me

Good hill to die on

But (mixed metaphor incoming) it also cuts both ways...

We're in this together, so don't treat my solidarity as an insurance policy that covers decisions to build/develop stupidly

You don't need to care about climate or think energy transition is good for health and wellbeing to recognize that these people are fools.

They're ceding technological and economic ground without a fight and all the while proclaiming themselves warriors.

Zeldin on why renewable energy is bad: "Those battery storage sites cost a whole lot of money, and they then catch on fire and these local municipalities, fire departments, they aren't prepared for those massive fires that end up resulting and those environmental impacts."

Once we are at war with Venezuela the Alien Enemies Act leaves the courts powerless to stop ICE from throwing anyone they want to call a "Venezuelan" into camps and deporting those people end masse to anywhere in the world that will take them. Normalizing this state of exception means we're all next

So many of us came so very unwillingly to this place of viewing the Supreme Court as unworthy of being viewed as a judicial body. Unworthy of veneration, unworthy of respect.

So profoundly reluctantly.

But, good lord have they earned it.
