And Happy Birthday for tomorrow!!! 🎂 🎉
jwmuk.bsky.social
We ran a season of Dark games (Trophy, Cthulhu, Cosmic), all the games were written by the GMs and based on the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, I wrote a Trophy Dark game based on the Colossus of Rhodes. So much fun was had by everyone that wrote, ran and played during those seven days. Thanks!

Tomorrow is my birthday, and this last year has been a rough one. If any of the games or other art I’ve made have had a positive impact on you, hearing your stories would bring me a lot of joy 💖

A spooky double at The Arcanist's tavern in Shoreditch on 29th Oct.

I'm running @savagespiel.bsky.social's The Reid Legacy for @thetweedmeister.bsky.social's Liminal

@12sideddice.bsky.social running Vaesen

Seems this is turning into a monthly occurrence, Discord link in bio if you're a Londoner!
A werewolf pack seeking new hunting grounds. A cursed legacy. A lost faerie artefact. The grisly death of an official with eyes completely removed. A case that baffles even P Division that perhaps the player characters can solve. Faerie realms intruding on the mortal world. The sister sword of Excalibur that still exists, and can perhaps be found.

All these mysteries and more can be found in the Liminal Casebook, a 205-page PDF collection of 14 adventures for the Liminal roleplaying game, including five completely new scenarios and brand new art throughout. Welcome to the Mythic North – northern Europe of the nineteenth century, but not as we know it today. A land where the myths are real. A cold reach covered by vast forests, its few cities lonely beacons of industry and enlightenment – a new civilization dawning. But in the countryside, the old ways still hold sway. There, people know what lurks in the dark. They know to fear it.

Vaesen – Nordic Horror Roleplaying is written by Nils Hintze and based on the work of Swedish illustrator and author Johan Egerkrans. Vaesen presents a dark Gothic setting steeped in Nordic folklore and the old myths of Scandinavia. The game mechanics utilize an adapted version of the awardwinning Year Zero Engine.

Also spooky-season-adjacent - Moon Roads is my compact #ttrpg of magicians in the modern world. Simple rules, freeform magic system, just enough metaphysics to make things interesting.

Midnight of the Century is the next TTRPG from By Odin's Beard RPG, following on from Runecairn.

If you're excited about recreating the feeling of watching your favourite occult serial killer movies and TV shows from the '90s, like Millennium, Twin Peaks, and Silence of the Lambs, read on!
Midnight of the Century Primer. Hunt serial killers in a rain-soaked city teetering on the edge of apocalypse. A mid-'90s pre-apocalyptic serial killer investigation roleplaying game. Striking red and black, skull peering from the background with an eclipse at the centre and strange circular logo. Enochian text and imagery.

I don't *think* I've ever watched an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2002).

Up until Christmas of last year, I'd never seen Casablanca.

Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

Can I have your 🤓 membership card please? It's been rescinded, although you'll remain an ex-member with good standing re:Titanic.

With my SO yesterday, exploring that London as part of their Birthday celebrations 🎂, Academy of Arts for a Van Gogh/Anselm Kiefer exhibition 🎨 and we also wandered around the other collections 🤯 until hunger struck and we headed to Kung Fu Noodle on Shaftesbury 🤤 home in time for a crappy movie! 📽️
The Last Load (1970) the painting is almost entirely monochrome (a palette of blacks, whites, greys) - very stark, bleak, with an austere contrast. The surface is marked by furrows, raked lines, striated textures - these appear as grooved furrows in a field. In the distance, the furrows recede toward a seam of “dying light” or a horizon under “night-darkened skies.” There are signs of the land being barren or burnt: straw in charred stooks (bundles or stacks), weeds, twisted growth, as though something was harvested and left or as though the land is scorched. The effect is one of a war-scarred, wounded landscape - void, but still with traces of life or past productivity. Lanzhou Hand-Pulled Beef Noodle Soup, wide noodles, slices of beef, chopped spring onions, coriander in a clear broth.
