It's painful watching every child's toy get ruined by collector scum, as if that wasn't something many showrunners hadn't skewered in the shows they'd grown up as children. Way too many 80s-00s kids growing up into this, even after being warned about such things:

I wonder if it’s because we’re used to seeing flat prices be “final cost”, but X.99 is “before tax”?
Like; when I see something is $2 it almost always means it’s ACTUALLY 2 dollars flat.
But when I see $2.99 in stores, I expect taxes to bring the final price closer to $3.57 - basically five bucks.

Exact mindset I approach my Steam wishlist. Two bucks is free, but $2.99 is still five bucks.
