A number of people from out-of-state have been opening tabs at small businesses—coffee shops where people on patrol can grab a drink and warm up, bars where people can be in community, etc. It’s been a deeply appreciated form of solidarity and helps the businesses closing tomorrow.

I actually love this unironically. I use a lot of pens in my day job and in my sketches, so I see a lot of the pen on the right in very professional settings, and I always see the pen on the left in the primary school trash can of memories so distant they're filled between early episodes of Digimon.
yeah, just out of interest, how many people choose the pen on the right for real work or art? See a lot of them in professional workplaces, do you?

It was both incompetence AND malice. John C. Woods was a beautiful piece of work, whose life characteristically ended with him stepping into electrified water right after he was done hanging the Nazis.

Someone mentioned John C. Woods on this app today, and I'd never heard of him. He was the Nuremberg hangman, and apparently either through incompetence or malice (likely the latter) Streicher's hanging was botched so he suffered a great deal. Just something to keep in mind.

Something I've always thought about is that a peaceful protests foundation is the implicit threat of violence against the invaders. Like, the only thing stopping the guerillas is friends and family keeping the heat down through protest and it's necessary to let fascists know that and fear it.
minnesota is an open carry state and it’s becoming increasingly clear that simply exercising that right in moderate numbers terrifies the fuck out of these cowards. possibly the single best way to get them to go away from what i’ve seen
With masked armed federal agents sitting at the corner and circling the St. Paul neighborhood for quite some time, about 50-100 neighbors came out to blow whistles. This man says this is his neighborhood and thanks everyone who came out.
