Beaumont Ivarson never wanted a high-profile job. She had her bakery, her friends, and her partner all safe and protected in their corner of Queensreach. Yet, as it so often does for those who wish harder than anything for it not to be so, life had other ideas. Such as Beau taking over as Warden of the city. After killing her predecessor. To be honest, though? Alfie had it coming. Now, keeping the supernatural community hidden under the eyes of Queensreach's human citizens falls on her shoulders. Sometimes you burn a few biscuits, a few bridges, and despite your best efforts that bad taste comes back to haunt you. Winter draws on. Shop orders and ghosts from the past creep closer. All of this, and Beau and her girlfriend Essie haven't even finished moving into their new place, yet. It’s going to be a hell of a housewarming party.

Love waking up to the dread of "you might have 22 days to live". Mutual aid helps, but so do remote US job leads (that accept Maine residents) especially in the IT field but I'll take anything I can do.

I'm also starting a Fiverr for IT related fixing or home project help w/ free video consults.

Personally I love a slowburn where you get to see the journey and all the awkwardness that comes with it!

Writing it is more character-specific, so I have peeps going 0 to 60 (Adah) and others talking a stroll (Beau) getting to destination

When the person you want to smooch is flighty you have to pick your moment. For Adah, that means sitting on Beau's lap while giving a lesson in romance 💕
Beau dipped her chin, deferential, nearly instinctive at this point. Her new line of sight found Adah’s chest; the warmth at her cheeks trickled down her neck. It wasn’t until Adah nudged the underside of her jaw that she met her friend’s eyes again. “And you have to look at her, let her know you’re into her,” Adah continued. “There’s a whole lot your eyes can say without you ever saying a word.” Butterflies filled the space previously occupied by Beau’s heart. “Frees up your mouth for more important things.” A hint of teeth flashed behind her smile. “Still with me?” Something like mm-hm fizzled before ever making it to Beau’s lips. She nodded. Once. Words left her completely as Adah moved to cradle the back of her head. Without thinking, her grip on her friends hips tightened. Adah chuckled. “You got to focus at this point. Really focus. Notice all the little things about her.” She leaned in further. “Personal experience: closer the better.” Her eyes, her anger, her light, her intensity. Adah was a comet, beautiful and dangerous. Never the time to admit it. Never enough gall. Beau wasn’t good enough. Never good enough. “This is the most important part,” Adah said, voice dropping to a murmur. “Ready?” Another nod. Slowly, maddeningly slowly, she brought her lips to Beau’s.

A teasing little "number" for this Sunday's #WIPSnips:
A flash of shimmering red caught my eye, and I tugged at it to reveal a garnet-colored gown, the kind of basic slinky number made of stretchy, bouncy synthetics that wouldn't wrinkle when shoved unceremoniously into a duffel bag. I had forgotten I'd packed it, back when I thought these diplomatic sessions might have more evening socials and fewer nights climbing through ductwork to prevent our eventual murders.
