that whole discussion on historical memory started by @beijingpalmer.bsky.social reminded me of how the early Habsburgs (mostly Maximilian I) faked like their entire family tree to claim they were descended from King Arthur, Hector of Troy, AND Noah (as in the Noah from the Bible) 🫠

Apparently a catalog of one thousand miniature nudes would only cost you K2.20 in 1909 Vienna (which I think is like 10-15 bucks in 2023 dollars), if I'm understanding this correctly (am I?) Seems like a pretty sweet deal!
