Behind the sparrow and towards mid/top of the photo, a female northern cardinal is sitting on a branch. She seems to be. staring at the sparrow. The female northern cardinal if very blurred. Her bright orange beak is the most noticeable part of her. I did not see the female northern cardinal was in the picture until I was editing the photo.

This hawk was sitting on the back fence. I noticed one of his claws was sticking out of his feathers. First time I had seen that. Found out they do this from a commenter on one of my posts 20 days ago. First time I've seen this.

In this photo of a hawk, about 3/4 of the way down the hawk's body a little bit of his claw is sticking out of his feathers. About 20 days ago I had posted a picture of a hawk that looked like it only had one leg. One of the comments said hawks will do this. They tuck one claw up into its feathers and sometimes the claw will stick out of the feathers. I hadn't ever seen that before. Then I few days ago - here is this hawk with the claw sticking out. I am not good at identifying raptors, so I can't say what kind it is. This hawk has dark orange almost red eyes. Its beak is curved and is yellow with a black tip. The feathers are white and burnt orange. The burnt orange look like waves across the bird. The background is a chain link fence with an acreage of brown stick of trees. The leaves are almost completely gone.

The background is dark brown and gray. Shadows from the surrounding trees darkened the background. The red, orange and golden colors of the leaves shine their bright colors in the afternoon sun. Very few leaves remain on nearby trees.

He has a light colored beak and a little white on his tail. This photo is filled with various shades of brown, some fading green (in the background) and some orange colors from the few remaining leaves.

BlueJays can carry more than one peanut shell at a time. In the picture on the left he has one peanut in his beak and one barely visible in his throat. The photo on the right is cropped so the peanut in his throat is more visible.

Ripples from rain drops is a little water on the deck. The leaf has ripples along the edges. They are creating a different type of effect.

Wild autumn berries. Saw these while on a walk in a wooded area a few miles from where I live.

The berries are red and growing in bunches on a branch. There are also some green leaves on the branch. The was shining directly on the berries so I had to do some extra adjustments in post editing to make the photo less bright, but still light enough to capture the colors.

A one-legged hawk - did not notice this when I was taking the picture. Zoomed in on the photo to see if the hawk was standing at an angle where I couldn't see the other leg. Do you?

Gray cat with thin black stripes and light green eyes. Our vet refers to him as a "tuxedo cat". Oliver has white fur on the lower part of his face and down his belly. In this photo he is wearing a green plaid harness with a leash. He is getting used to it. When I get it out of the closet, he races to the back door because he knows he gets to go outside. The black vertical stripes in the background are part of the rail around the deck. He can fit through them, but is content (for the most part) to just lay on the deck and watch the outside world.

Dirt path where leaves have started to cover it. This path goes through a wooded area near my home. It is one of our state parks. The colors in this photo are mostly various shades of green. There are many gold/yellow leaves along the middle left side of the photo. Some red/orange leaves are throughout the landscape.

Heron in the middle of the photo. He has a light purple/gray neck and gray body. He has black feathers on the top/sides of his head. The background is green because of the algae in the water. He stood, staring into the distance for a minute or so before he started walking again.

A bright orange and black butterfly landed in the midst of a gravel path with fallen leaves around. It really stood out along the path where I was walking. In post editing I did brighten the orange and darkened the background to give the butterfly a more dramatic appearance.

These are pokeweed berries. Saw these while on a walk at a nearby state park. These were growing around a log that looked like had been on fire at some point.

As in this picture, pokeweed berries are dark in color with a vibrant pink/red stem. This photo was taken with the sun behind me, making the berries stand out more. The background is a log that had fallen and looked like it had been on fire recently. I liked it as the backdrop to the berries. This highlighted the pink/red stems even more.
