I saw Suzanne Vega in a small venue tonight and it was beyond amazing. Don’t know why it’s taken me 30+ years to get around to seeing her. Aside from the obvs great music, she’s so funny and charming and just my kind of weird. She’s a treasure.

I dreamt about heavy rain and tornados and being trapped with a lot of people somewhere. We’re expecting a sizable storm starting tomorrow, but I don’t expect to be trapped by flooding! A couple inches possible (a lot for us) and *possible* tornados, says the news (but that won’t actually happen).

Power came back just after midnight. Not sure how long it was out because I left my house after it was out for a bit midday. But my towels in the dryer (which I restarted after that bit were dry). Alert came at 4pm from HOA, so I expect somewhere around 3 to midnight.

My power is out. Apparently long term. It went out midday for like 15 minutes. When it came back on I grabbed my work stuff and went to my parents’. Assumed it would be fine when I got home but it was not. Almost couldn’t get in my house. Neighbors tried to help, but I ultimately figured it out.

One more day of heat and then temps go way down and and it will be rainy and cold. It’s almost like the universe knew my eastern US #gally1 peeps needed a summer break.

We’ve been having a #gally1 Superbowl party and it’s been a nice chill way to wrap up the con. I can’t even adequately explain how healing it is to spend a few days with my (mostly) distant chosen family. And how sad it is to go back to reality. Especially current reality.

Like, the utility pole act and the lights in the stadium flickering were not just random. The power goes out in PR all the time! Because we ran their utilities into the ground! That’s political!
I think one of the best things about Bad Bunny’s performance is that it was so *specific*. It so clearly had a point of view coming from real lived experience and actual emotion, actual heart, not cynical calculation. Just beautiful.
