To any ICE agents reading this who are from down south—you have never experienced anything like this cold. Our European climate equivalent is literally Stalingrad. It will hurt to breathe. You will be outside in it. So will we, but we are used to it.

Next week is what will break you.
We've lead charmed weather lives so far in January.
Temperatures are +5F to +10F across MN so far this month. 🌡️
We're about to be reminded what persistent cold and occasional snow feels like. ❄️
MSP could bottom out -10 to -20 next Tue.

I grew up reading Gourmet, and subscribed myself from roughly 1990 to the day they folded. Delighted to see it coming back from the dead, especially as a worker-owned co-op.
Condé Nast forgot to renew the trademark for Gourmet and so a group of journalists grabbed it and are relaunching the food magazine as a worker-owned co-op. Love it. [gourmetmagazine.net]

every time I think I can't get angrier at *waves hands* I see something else to make me angry, like the latest post on askamanager.com (tw: pregnancy loss). I wish to reach through the screen to throttle LW's HR rep for her unconscionable behavior

I didn't need more proof that the so-called Doctor Who leaks Discord was full of bullshit, but "Walton Goggins is a name being bandied around for the next Doctor" is definitely that proof

For a Minnesotan to end an interaction by saying "I hope you have a terrible day" requires an incredibly focused effort to overcome our cultural inclination toward passive aggression. You have to really suck to receive that kind of comment.
The MAGA regime is currently doubling down on its tactical stance of “we will kill women like dogs for merely displeasing us.”

I know work-related socializing is good for me, but I will already be doing a LOT of in-person socializing next week at Hunt, surely that should be enough for one human

(nevertheless, I am on the T, heading downtown)

Bostonians! Run out and get a copy of today's Boston Globe. My article on the 40th anniversary of LABYRINTH is in it, but you should buy it for the solvable labyrinth that accompanies it, perhaps one of the greatest layouts ever bestowed on a Globe article written by humble old me. I'm honored.

I’m convinced that lots of folks are unwilling to (accurately) call the Trump administration white supremacist or segregationist because the terms are negative coded and would require an uncomfortable reckoning with their personal overlapping beliefs. Or, the beliefs of their friends and family.
