Today the UK Government published guidelines for commercial baby food.

This is a welcome step, as levels of salt and sugar in these products are far too high and many have misleading claims. But ultimately, we need mandatory guidelines to achieve meaningful change.

Baby food firms told to cut sugar and stop promoting snacks for under-ones
Manufacturers who do not make products healthier within 18 months may face action, the government says.

Good news! The UK Government has today launched its consultation on banning the sale of high-caffeine energy drinks to under-16s - delivering on a key manifesto promise.

@sustainweb.org has long campaigned for this step, which could prevent obesity in up to 40,000 children.

Amazing to take our campaign to the heart of government.

We need a National Alcohol Strategy for England, with a focus on MUP, marketing restrictions and mandatory cancer warning labels.

Want to understand the specific cancer risks when consuming alcohol and how they increase? Does a pint a day make a big difference? Are women more at risk then men?

This great Telegraph article unpicks it all with @wcrf.org's Dr Helen Croker for Cancer Prevention Action Week.

Why a pint a day puts men at risk of cancer
New research shows that only one in five men knows that drinking alcohol can increase your cancer risk – so how much is a safe amount?

Huge thanks to @shaapalcohol.bsky.social for supporting Cancer Prevention Action Week and raising awareness on alcohol as a cause of cancer. Too few people know the risks - working together to reduce consumption, more people can avoid the devastation of an alcohol related cancer diagnosis.

Alcohol causes cancer - yet too few people know the risks.

Around 17,000 people a year in the UK are diagnosed with an alcohol-related cancer.

A massive thank you to our partners @alcoholfocus.bsky.social for taking Cancer Prevention Action Week into Holyrood and raising awareness of alcohol as a cause of cancer. We hope MSPs will refresh the Scottish alcohol framework so fewer people receive a devastating alcohol-related cancer diagnosis

Thanks to MSPs for backing #CPAW25 and raising awareness of alcohol’s link to cancer. 3 people in Scotland are diagnosed with an alcohol-related cancer every day. Let’s talk and open up conversations so everyone can make more informed choices about their health. #AlcoholAndCancer @wcrf.org

Alcohol causes cancer. Too few of us who regularly drink understand that. The minimum requirement should be a warning on products. That the industry objects shows how it’s in their commercial interests to play this information down and keep customers in the dark

Delighted to be quoted in today’s @theguardian.com as we launch @wcrf.org #CancerPreventionActionWeek. Most people don’t know alcohol increases cancer risk — but they have a right to. It’s time for mandatory warnings.
