Swalwell: He’s telling you not to see your neighbor being chased through a Home Depot parking lot because he’s just trying to work hard and provide for his family.

And he’s telling you not to see the drawing he made for Jeffrey Epstein.

At a health center in Uganda yesterday I came across a line of moms who had walked three hours with their babies to get them vaccinated. They value vaccines, because they see kids dying without them. They understand modern science and medicine more clearly than our HHS secretary.
Worth reading the full resignation letter from the head of center for immunization. "I am unable to serve in an environment that treats CDC as a tool to generate policies and materials that do not reflect scientific reality and are designed to hurt rather than to improve the public’s health."

You know how people called women hysterical for predicting the right wing would take down Roe v. Wade (which they've done) and then attack access to birth control (which they're doing)?

Hear me when I say that women's very right to vote is next.

Telling women to modify their behavior to avoid being victims of violent crime ignores the actual issue of predators being predatory. Predators like a challenge and still telling victims they are responsible absolves the predator completely.

Bill Moyers, brilliant journalist, commentator and press secretary to President Johnson, is dead at 91.

My favorite Moyers story: LBJ asked him to say grace at a White House dinner, then interrupted: "Bill, don't mumble!"

Moyers: "I wasn't speaking to you, Mr. President."

Senator Alex Padilla was arrested today at a DHS press event.
Not for violence.
Not for trespassing.
Not for a crime.
FOR SPEAKING.
You know who arrests lawmakers for speaking?

Dictators.

The head of the Department of Homeland Security literally just declared war on the second largest city of the United States and the state with the largest economy. Then a US senator was dragged out, thrown to the ground, and handcuffed.

Don't believe this is a crisis?
It is not the job of the federal government to "liberate" a city and state from their elected leaders. Where are all the states'-rights conservatives? And there is no need to liberate anything. The city & state aren't under siege. This is dangerous & authoritarian red-baiting & disgraceful.
Kristi Noem: "We are not going away. We are staying here to liberate the city from the socialists and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into the city."

Sen. Alex Padilla is then forcibly removed!

It’s the way his voice broke when he said “imagine what they’re doing to farmworkers” 😣😣

As the granddaughter of migrant farmworkers and an immigration expert, I have this exact fear. They’re kidnapping and abusing our loved ones. How else are we expected to respond?

Thank you, @padilla.senate.gov
Padilla: If this is how DHS responds to a senator with a question you can only imagine what they're doing to farm workers, to cooks, to day laborers out in the Los Angeles community and throughout California.

A DHS spokesperson defended the detainment, accusing Sen. Padilla of failing to properly identify himself during Sec. Kristi Noem's press conference.

But multiple videos show Padilla clearly identifying himself as a senator.
Sen. Padilla pushed to ground, handcuffed for demanding DHS not lie
Forcibly removing a sitting US senator, as they opposed the president's immigration policy, is a part of a broader slide.

The same is true for raids on restaurants—rounding up people who are working hard and contributing to their community.
It’s obvious but worth drawing out what raids of Home Depot’s of all places is about. It’s rounding up people who are really eager for work and for whom there is work, peoples whose labor is in demand. We know this but shows just how far it is from rounding up just the bad guys.

Meanwhile, the 19 richest households saw their wealth increase by $1 trillion in 2024 — the biggest one-year increase ever.

Our problem isn't a lack of resources.

Our problem is ever-expanding inequality.
