So happy to see that you are never too old to debut! Also loiking forward to this book!
It's a been a time coming, and it won't be out until February of next year, but it's exciting to see this cover reveal for my friend and client Mel Rosenberg's "Emily Saw a Door" from Betsy Bird!
Writing children's books? There's no set deadline to publish your first. We talk with Mel Rosenberg about his first picture book at age 74 and his unique path to publication. #kidlit 📚👍 afuse8production.slj.com/2025/06/11/d...

This bouquet from my garden, plus a neighbor's yellow iris are now above my parent's urns. We buried my mother's ashes yesterday. 96 is a long time, and she will be long remembered, too.

There are a lot of great small publishers! There are also plenty that writers should steer clear of. In my Ask the Agent Question of the Day, I talk about red flags to look out for when evaluating publishers.

Writing. That's what I've got right now. Taking it slow. 432 words today, and they're enough. For now.

Y'all, discoverability is harder than ever. With Twitter all but gone and publishing being --in a mood-- your favorite authors are floundering. We don't know how to reach our fans or find new readers. Telling someone about a book you love is a really big deal. That's the #1 reason people buy books!

Sometimes you read the perfect book at the perfect time. I always like Gary D. Schmidt's novels--this one I love.

This morning I made the move from revision planning to revising. 530 words, and it feels great to be back at the keyboard again.

So it begins.

Today I get to appreciate it from indoors, with no errands or appointments, nothing more or less than I day I get to write. After breakfast.
