Today, we share our preprint “Generative design of novel bacteriophages with genome language models”, where we validate the first, functional AI-generated genomes 🧵

In a new preprint from @brianhie.bsky.social's lab, the team reports the first generative design of viable bacteriophage genomes.

Leveraging Evo 1 & Evo 2, they generated whole genome sequences, resulting in 16 viable phages with distinct genomic architectures.

I am an educator, I simply asked chatGPT5 to give a brief solution for a simple MCQ I created for edible parts of different plant. Despite of correct option marked in green, it identified banana and potato as fruit. 😂 I mean I don't even use it for creation work, just solution part.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Frankly I am so irritated how much people try to over sell LLMs.

I work as an educator in ed tech company, the tech dudes are so incompetent, those morons think assessments(like bloom's taxonomy based) can be automated. They have been trying for 2 years, zero success, but ego is skyhigh for no reason.
