I might be wrong, but I get the impression younger generations are much more appreciative of older games. The whole "this game sucks because of bad graphics and slightly clunky controls" seems like more of a millennial thing, as far as I can tell anyway.

It boiled down to “the game is fun in co-op, so IGN played it wrong”
I don’t like IGN, but that retort is dumb.
A game should be fun in single player too.
