Well yes he’s the nominal defendant but it’s not as if he’s being sued (or suing) in his personal capacity. Legal actions against the government do survive changes of administration.

Are you sure this is the point? People are unhappy about what is happening. They may be wrong about who is responsible but explaining that is not the judiciary doesn’t help.

As another ex government lawyer, I agree. It’s so frustrating that, despite sympathetic noises, the current government hasn’t legislated to put in place guardrails eg on Lords & other appointments, conduct and ethics, conflicts of interest etc. And hasn’t really tackled over/use of secondary legn
