One quirk of Elizabeth Warren is she’s arguably the Democrats’ leading China hawk. The 2023 H200 AI chip is better than what China can produce themselves (for now) but the chip is only one factor in whether you can do cutting-edge AI and by using clever workarounds China already has what it needs.

I love this notion that exporting GPUs to China is somehow a national security threat for the US. What exactly is China going to do with hardware designed to power the machine that makes you stupid? Become stupider?

part of being a leftist is resigning yourself to prominent sentiments in the left being reactionary, ineffectual, and completely out of touch with wider society. is there something new here?
i think tech and ai positive people are going to be in for a big shock when anti tech and anti ai sentiment becomes a major part of leftwing politics going forward especially as datacenters continue to destroy communities and raise electricity bills
Is this platform still massively against AI or has it moved more towards acceptance?

Tbf even as a Sonic fan I’d argue that HVerse hatred is a lot more intense than anything I ever saw Sonic get. It’s uniquely gross and parasocial. It’s evolved from ‘Lets critique the creator / show’ to ‘It’s open season on everyone who is even in proximity to the show’.

Not dunking, but I keep seeing people write "nobody likes AI" and while *I* may not like most of its applications, ChatGPT is the fastest growing consumer software product in history. It is the fifth-most-visited website in the world.
you can convincingly portray this whole financialized AI edifice as a mortgage crisis-style house of cards without even mentioning that the fundamental product is unreliable, based on outright theft, and people don’t like it.
