"If the most powerful D.C. law firms and Disney and Columbia University, and Jeff Bezos can't stand up to Trump, how do we expect everyday American citizens or smaller businesses or colleges or universities?" Levitsky said.

Yet, courageous ordinary citizens stand up against Trump every single day!
Steve Levitsky, the co-author of How Democracies Die, on the dangerous place we have reached as Trump escalates:

“Orbán doesn’t arrest journalists,” he said. “And in Hungary if you walk the streets of Budapest or other Hungarian cities, you will not find heavily armed masked men abducting people."

For all the discussion of doxxing federal agents, there’s essentially no discussion of how those agents are taking steps that attach severe punitive measures that stretch across wide swaths of the federal bureaucracy against people acting lawfully.
A Minnesota woman observing ICE agents in her car was cornered on one-way streets. An agent approached, called her by name—citing facial recognition. Days later, her Global Entry and TSA privileges were revoked, with no explanation.

We could have 4 JWST’s or a science mission at every planet. The NIH could be funded for two years. Or 1.5 years or so of USAID funding, if it still existed.

This is how they’re spending our tax dollars. This is our money.
Personally I think this is too much money for Donald trumps untrained heavily armed militia

Looks like they're about to start square-dancing
I'm starting to think the Trumpist mastery of propaganda is failing them. The DHS agents posing this way makes it look like they're ashamed of themselves.

I don't use TikTok so I don't know anything, but as a tech worker, the narrative of "ownership changes and a couple of days later they roll out an expansive and targeted censorship regime" seems far-fetched.
If anyone still believes the rumors that tiktok is being censored, my whole fyp is anti-ICE right now, almost without exception. People are performing panic for clout.

Literally EVERYTHING else aside:

Officers involved in shootings - even shootings that everybody agrees were justified - always take time off to emotionally process their experience, go to therapy, process it.

Sending somebody right back out says "this is an everyday part of your job, expect it."
CBP chief Bovino has confirmed that the officers who executed Alex Pretti in the street yesterday are not only *not on administrative leave,* they have all been reassigned to other jurisdictions and are all on the street today.

This is totally unheard of for any officer-involved shooting

If my neighbor's house is on fire and I run towards it to help them, I am not "protesting the fire"
Once again, observers are not protesting. This wasn’t during a protest. He was murdered while being in his community and observing the out of control federal occupation of our city.
The officer who fatally shot a Minneapolis man during a protest is an 8-year Border Patrol veteran, federal officials say.

It seems clear Alex Pretti, a healthcare worker, was murdered for engaging in the exact kind of community care we hope all care workers to embody: the kind that doesn’t stop at the threshold of the hospital, the clinic, but that aims to care for and support the community where and how they can

I visited Philadelphia in 2024 and got to go to some of the historical sites/museums and the best thing about it was the way it covered issues like enslaved people because it had a lot of stuff that was new to me. (1/2)
Crews today dismantled plaques telling the stories of enslaved people who lived in the President's House in Philadelphia following orders by President Trump and Interior Secretary Burgum to remove content at national parks that “inappropriately disparage” the US. 6abc.com/post/philade...

At around 1:40 this afternoon, I witnessed federal agents with ICE and CBP arresting a US citizen after hitting her car from behind, and then kneeling on the head of a legal observer in the snow, preventing breathing and bloodying their face.
