Will there ever be a Christ the King Sunday (it’s a real day, fight me) where I don’t spend it very angry that Americans use it as more anti monarchical propaganda to justify the fact that *they invaded our country to force us to stop having the monarch we wanted and elected*?

LLMs give people with delusional belief systems a way to organise those beliefs. The model fills in gaps, supplies connective tissue, and wraps the madness in formal language. It doesn't make the claims more credible to us, it just tidies them up.

(CW; dental trauma & body stuff) At home recovering from more dental surgery. The most broken tooth was extracted and a bone graft placed. There has been some bleeding, apparently because the bone was also somewhat fractured and the extraction basically knocked that bone and caused it to bleed too.

Grateful to Via Media for making space for my reflections on how the very ordinary stuff of parish life is undermined by the church's unwillingness to fully embrace LGBTQIA+ folks. Policies discussed in the abstract have a real impact on real people, which too often gets forgotten.
And today a reminder that there are real people whose lives are affected by the current C of E policies on LGBTQIA+ relationships viamedia.news/2025/11/13/a...

I think this is one of the best conversations I've had on All Things Necessary yet! The Rev. Deacon Erin Keakealani Richardson Severin ( @keakealani.bsky.social ) joins me to talk about Reddit chaplaincy and digital evangelism! ⚓

Mega-niche programming shout-out: early Baroque-ish Christmassy things for not more than SSATB (or SSATTB at a pinch) plus instruments (quartet) which involve, or /could/ involve recorders? I have the Messe de Minuit, obviously...

So I guess I better tell my bsky fam too. On Monday night I took a spill on my electric scooter (combo of a very bad snap decision and stressing out over an unfamiliar route) and head-over-handlebars fell on the sidewalk mouth first. Lost a tooth, badly chipped two others, and some minor abrasions

The gratification that comes when I make a liturgical comment and the rector is like “yep 100% agree, good thought”. I live for that serotonin hit I’m telling you.

I am pretty sure someone got a picture of me parading a newly baptized baby down the aisles. I need some congratulations - I do not, as a rule, hold babies. Very much prefer 4+ years old lol

Interestingly, the colors I was originally waffling between (white and green) aren’t mentioned at all by commenters. I’m not sure if that says more about the vagueness of color-based theology, or my bad taste.
Does anyone have opinions on what the liturgical color would be for a commemoration of Veterans Day/Armistice Day? ⚓️

I cannot begin to express how deeply, deeply upsetting it is when I am asked to indicate my race, and am not allowed to select multiple options. And declining just means I get less representation, bc let’s be real, monoracial people don’t decline. Just people like me. 😡😡😡

This post *did* remind me to review all of the names I’m supposed to read out loud for my portion of the necrology, which is now telling me I know diction rules for too many languages and not sure if people use original language pronunciations or English-accented pronunciations of their names….
I'm curious if other churches have guidelines or limitations on names added to the necrology for All Saints/All Souls (don't at me liturgy police). Last year, congregants had maybe 12-15 names for it. This year is 60+
