fun fact: the first people to wear clerical collars were actually protestants, and roman catholics picked it up from them

you are right for all but the peace prize, which is awarded in oslo

provided, that is, that they are looking for something rather rigorous and academic. (it is three volumes in one, 700+ pages, and deals with the Holy Spirit in its entirety, not merely as agent of the resurrection of the body.)

sorry, you did say apostles' and there i went nicene. so i don't know of anything super academic in that regard. but i would say, if it's something that they struggle with and want to hear more about the theology of, one book i would heartily recommend is yves congar's _i believe in the Holy Spirit_

just how academic/exhaustive are you looking for? luke timothy johnson's _the creed_ is really good, though not what i would call exhaustive. and while i have not read it, i have heard good things about ben wyatt's _Christ and the council_

somehow @lorenlasch.bsky.social managed to buy eye masks that have not one but two different product names that sound like they could have been aliases that shawn gave gus on psych
a black box of eye masks with geometric shapes on it which reads, "blaq™ kakadu plumpers"

but we had three devastating newses today already

my personal favorite is the upper half of "the burial of the count of orgaz" but if you are looking for something a bit more 'neutral' the one i see most frequently is fra angelico's "the forerunners of Christ with saints and martyrs"

had to look it up so i didn't lead you astray. in "the prototype and the image," marion talks about the cross as the τύπος of the invisible on the visible, and therefore in a sense the prototypical icon. he later closes by saying, "in the icon, the visible and the invisible embrace each other...

jean-luc marion hints at this in _the crossing of the visible_

anyway, it is a standing offer so if at any point in the future you decide you would like to look into it at all, i would be happy to help however i can!

yeah, it has its difficulties, don't get me wrong, and i share the executive dysfunction. it can feel like running uphill. but the first part of diss writing is lit review, so you're spinning yourself up on what's out there. you may never feel ready, but ime you are more ready than you think.
ianlasch.bsky.social
if it would be helpful to talk more in detail with someone doing a distance part-time phd (though in a different field), would be happy to share about my experience at aberdeen (and i don't doubt some others would too).
ianlasch.bsky.social
i hear you on that. definitely look abroad, then, as the structure is different (all dissertation, no coursework), which isn't *less* academic, but is less academic performance and more just academic writing. in either case, it is 100% about finding the right advisor as opposed to the right program.
