You say "voters aren't monolithic" but the modern GOP is a cult. They're not coming over, at least not without Democrats becoming something existing Democrats no longer vote for.

But I guess you're right, if "narrow thinking" means "you can only win by getting more votes" and it's "simplistic" to acknowledge that the pool of non-voters is both larger and more reachable.

No Democrat would clear 40% in TX without picking off Republican voters?!
Trump won TX in 2024, but there were still more people who stayed home than people who voted for him.

I've lived in Texas for 41 years, and I don't think anyone is convincing non-D's to vote for a Democratic candidate.
The only path to winning is to convince the millions of voters who otherwise won't show up.
