I make a fake-history (OR IS IT?) webcomic called The Kraken Busters, about the US' struggle with sea monsters after World War 2. It's drawn to look sort of like Bill Mauldin illustrating a Ken Burns show. It rules, I promise you.

Ok, I love this band. They sound like a bunch of bands I had on constant rotation in the late 90s/early 2000s and I do not know why I’ve never heard them.

Totally agree at the individual work level! This is also mostly me thinking about the Coens in toto for a long time and how O Brother slots into everything else. They absolutely rule, but their work usually argues in favor of the status quo, more or less.

A useful thing I figured out about myself fairly recently is that I'm not the type of music head who knows *all the bands*; I'm the type who knows a subset of the bands, but super deep. Different, but equally valid ways of doing it

Weirdly fraught! The circumstances of my naming are pretty weird and not super cool; if I could graciously switch first and middle names (and be Arthur/Art), I really might. And I always feel like m about 5 years out from “Pappy” being a name that fits. BUT…

Definitely true; this gets into me engaging with the political culture I grew up in, but I do think that "they're all criminals, trust none of them, they all suck by definition" resolves to a fundamentally conservative position

There’s a decent chance that a comics version of the 1987 story will happen, but it’s different enough from the 40s-50s that I’ll need to work up some big stylistic changes
