Mostly organic material and a series of vibrations registering as sound. Abides in the liminal space between the Twin Cities of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, where nothing is quite real and anything is possible. Drums, mandolin. Rarely at the same time.

The universe winds down. That's how it's made.
But memory is everything to lose;
Although some of the colors have to fade,
Do not believe you'll get the chance to choose.
Regret, by definition, comes too late;
Say what you mean. Bear witness. Iterate.

I am saying once again that the Conservative attack on the Arts is because they are incredibly envious of artists who they perceive as a group that has “too much” cultural power, a type of influence Conservatives crave but will never have because they’re anti-intellectuals with no imagination.

That’s … very good.

Also, anyone have any human boy names they’re especially fond of?

But seriously what should we call our band this is impossible

Just when I thought enough time had passed and we could call our new band Rush … foiled again!

Lede from article:

Law360, Miami (October 7, 2025, 12:29 PM EDT) -- A Miami jury returned a defense verdict late Monday in favor of NASCAR in a $76 million suit by the LetsGoBrandon.com Foundation accusing the league of destroying the value of its cryptocurrency LGBCoin after it revoked approval of sponsorship of a racing team.

twice a year the entire U.S. press becomes a marketing extension of a single billionaire-owned retailer, and nobody in any position of editorial power thinks it's weird or gross

I support public/alt modes of transportation, but I didn’t hate car culture before I moved to the Twin Cities. TC drivers radicalized me.

I’ve been in places with too-big vehicles (Texas) and places with too many lanes (DC, Atlanta), but this is the first where a left red arrow is a suggestion.

Reminds me of this excellent sign that I saw at the Tubman African American Museum in Macon, Georgia.
Piano, which once belonged to Little Richard, with a sign on it saying "Do not attempt to play Little Richard's piano. He will know."

I see you and love you and love this, Portland. Hope to get back there sooner than later.

Maybe I'll return as Captain Volcano, Longview's mascot of tourism after the eruption. I will be alone and nobody will know who I am. I'll exhaust myself explaining who I am and burn myself out.

“In Minnesota, it costs $22,569 a year on average to send an infant to daycare — more than in-state tuition for a four-year public college, according to data from the Economic Policy Institute…. It’s no longer a child care crisis: It’s a child care collapse”

Not at all excited about robotaxis.

That said, I bet they’d stop at the 4-way stop in front of 4yo’s preschool. It’s about 50-50 for humans.

Well, here it comes: @toreyvanoot.bsky.social reports that Waymo has hired lobbyists in Minnesota and been talking to state lawmakers, looking for legislative approval to operate in MN

Once again, I’m wondering why Democrats aren’t running with a straightforward message of “despotism is un-American and unaffordable” right now and all the way into the midterms.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

the most delightful version of logging on to see what news you've missed
Dr Ramsdell, whose phone had been on airplane mode when the Nobel committee tried to call him, told the BBC's Newshour Programme that his first response when his wife said, "You've won the Nobel prize" was: "I did not."

To which Ms O'Neill replied that she had 200 text messages that suggested he had.

They should put them on wheels.

Ok, I love this band. They sound like a bunch of bands I had on constant rotation in the late 90s/early 2000s and I do not know why I’ve never heard them.

This song is so damn good. It’s raw like all their early stuff, but I wish I could get my head out of the expected-song-format loop long enough to write something that goes weird places like this.
