Then there will be weeks of headlines about how the FBI "foiled" a terrorist plot. Some duped folks likely end up in jail. But everyone ignores that if the FBI hadn't gotten involved there wouldn't have been any "plot" in the first place.

Crime doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It comes from poor material conditions. And capitalism creates those conditions. If you want to end drug trafficking, you don’t need more prisons or invasions. You need to end the system that forces people into crime to survive.

Yeah TNR is decent for what it was designed for, but what it was designed for is packing in tightly for newspaper columns!

Calibri meanwhile was designed to be similar but distinct from Arial for branding, and Arial was designed just to be legally distinct from Helvetica at the cost of being worse

Calibri being more readable honestly seems to just be Microsoft marketing nonsense that got parroted.

I do personally find TNR the more readable of the two, but I grew up with a lot of it on computer screens; objectively both it and Calibri are terrible fonts to use for most purposes.

Hey now, lets not put Microsoft on the side of simple joy, it's not like Rubio is trying to make people stop doing something fun and cool like using Vernon Adams' Bangers font for memo titles

Doctor Odyssey did prove to me that the guy can still create a crunchy, reliably-entertaining TV show, something increasingly rare, so I'm willing to give this a shot on that strength alone

yeah ask literally any American parent whether they like Ms Rachel or Israel more and you’d probably end up with like 92-8 margins

Wild twist, but also sortof fitting, that the closest we've gotten in recent years is from the Stargate lineage

I've never encountered more students who say they hate reading. Students who want to be teachers, writers, or both. I wonder if "hate" means "I have trouble reading," but I also talk with so many students who write in a genre but refuse to read in it. They can't see themselves in relation to others.

They aren't even mentioning the one egregious thing about his policies, which was that he didn't follow them himself, because that's the one part they think WASN'T a problem. Fucking bizarro world worldview.

They lost me at it being a plan and from venture capital, but then somehow they dug that hole so, so much deeper

We did so little, far too little, as a society. And moneymen and assholes decided it was Too Much and Never Again.

Plus side though is that, if strictly sticking to no-DRM ebooks, it helps force us to stick to smaller, independent publishers that need our money more than the big guys anyways!

The shelving crisis is getting quite acute in my own place, hah

Swinger parties does seem like the one deviation from the source material that doesn't sound entirely out of place and out of theme for Whoville, it's all about loving your neighbor yaknow
