this year we said goodbye to three special little girls. we were blessed to be moms to them even just for a short time. whether they are in new or old homes i hope their holidays are filled with joy and love.

well my parents told me they were "setting a boundary" by asking me to not be my authentic self around them so that's kinda on them
Yeah, no thanks.

Stop guilting people about being estranged from family members. It someone is they likely have personal reasons for being so.

“it’s reasonable to ask questions about trans girls in sports” was always intended to mainstream transphobia.

It’s absurd that people fell for it. Democrats are constantly letting oppressors set the terms of debate instead of just saying “no, fuck you.”

in 1941 my partner's grandparents were living in Port Angeles, WA. on the first Sunday of December they went out into the woods to cut down a christmas tree. when they got home that evening they turned on the radio and learned that Pearl Harbor had been bombed. we still call it "Christmas Tree Day"

It's the opposite of "the buck stops here". He is selling out Admiral Bradley and sending chills down the spines of his chain of command, who now know their boss will sell them out if he is taking heat. A case study in how not to lead.

What is your favorite "Christian" Christmas song and what is your favorite "Secular" Christmas song?

religious: Good King Wenceslas -- bing crosbys classic version his voice is just so soothing

secular: love to keep my warm by laufey & dodie. also soothing voices but sapphic too
Christian/religious- I am a sucker for a good "Ave Maria" classic or reimagined
Secular- "Sleigh Ride" mostly because I enjoy singing it
What is your favorite "Christian" Christmas song and what is your favorite "Secular" Christmas song?

I will probably always adore "O Come All Ye Faithful" and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" for Christian.

And "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" for secular.

growing up i didnt know we were poor because we didnt get free school lunches. as an adult i realized we probably qualified but my conservative evangelical parents didnt believe in taking "welfare" so we ate sandwiches with 1 slice of american cheese and sometimes a transparent slice of meat.
this reminds me of a friend who thought he was middle class so he donated his car to a charity that helps poor people and a month later, he saw his car at his neighbor's house
