As one of rather few trans women with a Big 5 publishing contract, I hope people will buy my book or borrow it from a library. Not just because I need money, but because I want to retain that access. Trans women's books should be in bookstores and libraries, and publishers like to see line go up 1/3

BREAKING: This is huge news, the EU's equivalent of the 🇺🇸Supreme Court's 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling.

🇪🇺Court of Justice just ruled all 🇪🇺countries must recognise same-sex marriages granted in other member states.

This effectively legalises gay marriage across 🇪🇺

The return of the rain upon our heads has become like the return of war. With the first drop that seeps into the tents, a suffering heavier than the cold seeps in, as if the sky is weeping and we are weeping with it. I urgently need $300 for tent

Sure! Mastercard, Visa, Stripe + Paypal are further restricting what kinds of perfectly legal adult content you can buy through their processor (they cracked down on itchio and steam over the summer, not to mention Patreon a few years ago). We're tired of them acting like dictators instead of tools.
I don’t happen to have a Mastercard, but can you remind me why I’d be upset with them if I did?

Also, fun fact: library ebooks work on licences. They can only be 'checked out' a certain number of times before the library has to pay for them again.

Good for the author, good for the publisher.

Probably bad for the library, but I love to see tax dollars go to something GOOD for once.
Do not steal books, I beg. Borrow from a library. Libraries lend e-books!

Don’t steal from people who are also under the boot. It is that simple. Otherwise you are revealing you don’t give a shit about poverty or unemployment

But i guess bc authors don’t have the ability to fix capitalism fuck them right

We’re not licking boot we are trying to survive.
Buncha hand wringing "omg theft is wrong" types here in the middle of the most poverty and unemployment we've seen in decades.

Fix need and distress, theft goes away.

Until then, you're just choosing your favorites to survive capitalism.

But hey, least the boot tastes good, right?

Really great journalism here about the systematic health disparities faced by Black Americans
UMMC Assistant Professor Dr. Justin Turner told the Youth Media Project that Black Americans still struggle to trust the health-care system. He pointed to historical abuses, like the Tuskegee experiments, as a major reason.
