Since 1999, I’ve been deeply shaped by Saint Pier Giorgio, an early leader of the Catholic student movement IMCS Pax Romana, someone who understood that the Eucharist calls us to serve the poor, resist fascism, and build peace.

In the face of fascism & nationalism, Pier Giorgio, pray for us

Pope Leo XIV’s election as the first U.S.-born leader of the Catholic Church elevated him to the extremely rare, and legally thorny, position of being an American citizen who now is also a foreign head of state.
Can Pope Leo remain a U.S. citizen now that he's a foreign head of state?
Born in Chicago as Robert Prevost in 1955, the new pope for the past decade has held dual citizenship in the U.S. and Peru, where he spent time as a missionary and bishop.

I know I say this a lot but...

in ca. 1320 Dante wondered whether Francis (of Assisi) might inspire the Church to reject the temporal wealth associated with the Donation of Constantine.

O'Toole wonders whether Francis (the pope) may have irreversibly done so

Spent the afternoon volunteering at tornado cleanup & relief. The devastation is immense, in part because it hit one of the oldest parts of the city, a section chronically divested from.

It's segregation and capitalism at their worst.

But the community is resilient and is taking care of each other
