As a person who repairs books, I counsel people on this all the time: the default for physical objects, if left alone, is to continue existing. The default for digital files, if left alone, is to disappear. Digital history requires care FOREVER; one missed reformatting and good luck recovering it

I can't remember the last time I saw an article just focus on this. Not that they've bent the truth or misrepresented a few facts a little, but that every single solitary thing that the GOP says on the topic is a stone cold lie with absolutely no basis in reality.
