Reporter: The president had initially said that this project wouldn't interfere with or touch the current structure.

Leavitt: If you look at the renderings, it's very clear the east wing was going to be modernized.

Reporter: But modernizing and tearing down are two different things.

Hi, this is Meg Barnette, Brad's wife.

While escorting a defendant out of immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad was taken by masked agents and detained by ICE.

This is still developing, and our team is monitoring the situation closely.

The rule of law is all or nothing and must apply equally to everyone. If there's no rule of law for some people in America, then there's no rule of law for any of us.

The way we were treated at Delaney Hall is almost unbelievable. ICE shoved me, manhandled @repbonnie.bsky.social, and arrested Mayor Baraka.

They disrespected us and tried to stop us from conducting the oversight we’re elected to do. But we’ll never back down in our fight for what is right.

The mistake you're making - the mistake a lot of Democrats are still making - is to believe that the rule of law still applies in the USA.

It doesn't. The law is now whatever Trump says it is.
