one curious feature of our particular dismal political era: some people have gotten so addicted to the particular vice signaling around empathy / concern for other people that they seem to see evidence that something will benefit others as evidence that it will harm them
Anyway, this is about as gross and anti-social a statement from an antivaxxer as you'll find, but also probably pretty par for the course

I keep coming back to the Black Panther Party’s free breakfast program that the FBI dismantled, before Congress created the federal means-tested School Breakfast Program.

Edgar Hoover famously wrote in a 1969 memo sent to all field offices that "the BCP [Breakfast for Children Program] represents the best and most influential activity going for the BPP [Black Panther Party] and, as such, is potentially the greatest threat to efforts by authorities to neutralize the BPP and destroy what it stands for." The night before the Chicago program was supposed to open, police broke into the church that was hosting it and urinated on all of the food. The government's attacks on the Black Panther Party are evidence of mutual aid's power, as is the government's co-optation of the program: in the early 1970s the US Department of Agriculture expanded its federal free breakfast program-built on a charity, not a liberation, model-that still feeds millions of children today.

I don't trust any of yinz enough to take a block list. I'm not shy about blocking, very extremely far from it. But my present stereotype about BlueSky users is that yinz are, like, mainly Clinton 2016 diehards still fighting that war. Not outsourcing my political judgement the Pantsuit Nation sorry.
