They have a point: Blu-ray players are still expensive! Two days working minimum wage or a week's groceries for 3 kind of expensive for the lowest priced options. Wrong format, right argument, particularly when some properties are being released exclusively on Blu-ray.
A (quite) young movie lover said to me recently, "Not everybody can afford a DVD player," and I said "How much do you think a DVD player costs?"

He said, "I don't know, like $500?"

Those of us who advocate physical media are maybe not doing the best job of messaging.

An SLP or ECE with a couple years experience already knows how to interpret, question, and prompt toddlers to understand their meaning. I'm offended by the idea of replacing human professionals in a clinical setting focused on children.

Virtually every time I read something from/about Sen. Banks, I feel like I've slammed my own face into a door. It's mind-boggling to know how much this senator detests both facts and every Dem in his constituency.
“Who was president in 2020?” is the question of our time

I reread an early 2000s YA series for a comfort read during the past couple weeks. It was great until I saw that the final book, that I haven't read, is currently out. Borrower, who are you? What are you doing reading 20-year-old Meg Cabot novels? Are we best friends now?

It’s not mean or unkind to live in reality. Lament the state of our political discourse, but don’t give our reality-based truths away to someone’s misfortune or tragedy. Does anyone deserve to get shot for being cruel? Not necessarily. But being a cruel person who gets shot doesn’t make you good.

I had the Natera NIPT in '22. I spent ~30 min on the phone w/ my insurer only to be told what amounted to, "we'll tell you how much we can cover after we get the claim." I went with the cash option: $99. Natera sent texts and a VM that were oddly urgent and worded in a way that I found predatory.
Offered a cash price for a prenatal genetic test? It may be your best bet
An expectant mom got a $750 bill for a blood test to check for genetic abnormalities in her baby. Then she tried to figure out why it was so high.

I cannot imagine standing across from someone who speaks like Loomer does and being able to say anything other than, "What the fuck is wrong with you?" My family isn't up for debate with this one-drop rule type shit.
The entire Latino population in the U.S. is 65 million. She means all of us.

The CREW manual being easily accessible made my earliest years of learning how to weed materials educational and balanced. MUSTIE saved my sanity time and time again. It's a huge shame this resource won't be maintained.

My Indiana House Rep sent a letter and the results to the 2025 legislative survey. IN H14 overwhelming says YES to Dem policies. Very much appreciate Dr. Vernon G. Smith and his office for sending this info out!

Guster, always ❤️
EXCLUSIVE: Tonight at the Kennedy Center, Guster brought on cast members from Finn, an LGBTQ+ kids musical that was recently canceled when Trump took over the center. They performed the band’s song “Hard Times” to a standing ovation.

The end result of this is trans people can't travel to the USA without the risk of being permanently banned from entering the USA on grounds of "gender fraud".

Already know trans folks in high tech fields who will be cancelling plans to give talks in America.

A point for Hoosiers: the state would spend $2.5M if 200k kids were enrolled for a year. Only 125k are currently enrolled. There are rural & metro zip codes not served for lack of local partners. Indiana could easily invest more & at a higher percentage to reach more kids using the budget surplus.

The latest budget update from the state of Indiana would cut funds for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, which sends free books to kids birth-5. Here's what that means, what to do, and why this is about KIDS, not Dolly.

‼️ The State Department has REMOVED TQIA+ on their page of recommendations for queer travelers. This page yesterday said "LGBTQIA+" and now just says "LGB".

The federal government is trying to erase trans people from existence.

There basically needs to a Democratic leader on every news show, every online platform, every street corner from now until 2026 telling Americans that Republicans are weird fascist freaks who want to actively kill them. That's like the bare minimum strategy here. Just flood the zone.

Northwest Indiana: call Rep. Mrvan's office and demand he stand up loudly for trans lives. The EOs that have come out so far are guaranteed to lead to policies that end trans lives if we don't stop them. Trans lives cannot be treated as collateral damage in a culture war. DC number is 202-225-2461.

This order will kill kids, there's no other way to say it. It's the government forcibly taking control of the bodies of thousands of children.
Trump issues a sweeping executive order purporting to (a) defund medical institutions that provide gender-affirming care to patients under 19 and (b) revoke coverage for such care under federal insurance plans. This is illegal and will be challenged. www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

@indivisiblenwi.bsky.social, is anyone making plans for a group effort to pressure Mrvan, Young, and Banks to make statements on how the funding freeze will/might affect Hoosiers? Called them all to ask for statements, but wondering what others are doing. Thanks!
