I was reading a review of the latest remake of Silent Night Deadly Night (directed by Mike P. Nelson! Unfortunately the reviewer was not that complimentary) and now I’m going to have to hunt down that Tales from the Crypt episode.

Club’s website - not overly positive, basically states the movie has a lot of good ideas but never commits to any of them, and brings up the “And All Through the House” episode from Tale from the Crypt as an example of a really good version of the general plot.

Slipping on wet stairs outside a restaurant. Yep, sounds about right.
Looking down a block, there are three sets of stairs to the right, two of them (gray, similar but exactly the same as the sidewalk color) are going up. The set in the middle are painted a very bright red with a red fence visible just ahead of it along the sidewalk in our view, and are going down from the sidewalk level. The sidewalk and steps are wet and shine in the hazy and weak sunshine. The red stairs seem to glow slightly. There is a darker red awning over the stairs and fenced area, with the not-quite-legible name of a restaurant.

My favorite tree is this hybrid oak at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. It’s been there forever, it loses limbs occasionally in bad storms, and they prop the rest of it up, and they plant Daffodil Hill under it every year.

I got that pesky “eating red food” out of the way ahead of the bloodletting. Some canned cheese ravioli with grated Parmesan and fresh basil, paired with a cheap Chianti in the last remaining fancy crystal wine glass I inherited from my father. Going for “trash but fancy”. #TheLastDriveIn

Well, I spent the day visiting the estate of my school’s namesake. Friend of yours?

(You like that? I’m proud of it.) The stalk is still upright and the edges and inside of the frill are a deep burgundy purple, while the outer surface of the frill is a light green, shading to white towards the top. It is surroundedby other tropical plants, in the Lower Rainforest Room in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory.

Went to put the trash out on the curb and noticed something across the street.

Myself, I went to a spooky season event in prime spooky season territory (Sleepy Hollow) and while deep in New York’s revolutionary history, I found this tea and I bought it, because it made me think of you.

The tea is described as lightly smoked and also as “a leaf from America’s tea heritage”. The back of the tea canister. Bohea is pronounced “Boo-Hee”. It was so popular that Bohea became the common word for tea. It was also the majority of the tea destroyer during the tax protests pre-Revolution.

Happy Spooky Season! My first selection for is a horror comedy from Norway, There’s Something in the Barn, because frankly I’m already terrified enough by the fact that I have to get up at 5:30am tomorrow morning. Paired with the *unofficial* #61MoviesOfHalloween cocktail, the Bloody Mary.

As an Evening Person, I sometimes think it would be nice to be a Morning Person and be more a part of the daylight world, but the gloaming is when I feel the most awake and the most connected. (And I love that sunrise and sunset look the same.)
