Exactly!
Maybe reputable news agencies shouldn't report Trump's assertions about international developments as fact until they are independently confirmed by other parties.

If a friend from abroad asked me about traveling to the US right now, I world advise against it. That’s where we are as a society two months in to Trump 2.0.

This haunts me.
Remembering for some reason how surprised everyone was at how quickly and comprehensively the USSR disintegrated, like it had already rotted from the inside and all that was left was a facade that seemed impressive and enduring but was hollow as papier-mache.

I just checked in at the Atlanta airport and the kiosk wanted me to show a "passport or permanent residence card."

The airline rep who was helping me said "I don't know why it's doing this it's been doing it all morning."

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

I’m no political expert but if Republicans start gutting social security and any Democrat responds with “I understand the need for reform, but” instead of “Social Security is good and works fine” that Democrat should be exiled like a stupid Napoleon

Yikes. We (and I absolutely include myself) need to be much more careful about relying on AI without fact checking.
A study of eight AI search engines found they provided incorrect citations of news articles in 60%+ of queries; Grok 3 answered 94% of the queries incorrectly (Columbia Journalism Review)

@amyklobuchar.com - How about you (and/or others in the Democratic leadership) deliver a daily briefing to detail the damage that has been caused by Trump/Musk/DOGD that day. Think early days of Covid, except with facts.) I guess if they ever do anything that isn’t horrible, you can cover that too.

The reckless funding freeze by the Trump administration jeopardizes everything from community health centers to cancer research to child care to critical infrastructure projects. It is an unconstitutional power grab that puts lives and livelihoods at risk.
