I have little faith either the US or Israel will be faithful to this deal (just look at Lebanon’s ceasefire). But the ‘I’m powerless’ play was nonsense when US spent 31$ bn supporting/assisting Israel’s war across the region across 2 admins. Some care more about Biden’s rep than our lives

Palestinian journalist Anas al-Sharif announcing the last ceasefire in January 2025. He was an icon and a hero. Israel assassinated him in August - one of over 300 Palestinian journalists killed by Israel in the last 2 years. May god bless his soul. May he be announcing this ceasefire in heaven.

So funny. I was literally talking about it tonight with family members who witnessed it from both Tehran and the US. And have visited the former US Embassy in Tehran. And of course have studied it in Persian and English. And and and 😂

I suppose it’s entirely possible that a significant portion of the families Molly posts are scams, but if so, they don’t really fit into the classic genres people are pointing to.

It’s also apparent most of her critics have no knowledge of local context in Gaza.

In the coming days—even if the ceasefire doesn’t ultimately progress past the first phase—Gaza will inshallah be flooded with food, medicine, and supplies. Many objected to donating during genocide, saying it won’t increase food supply. Now, there will be food.

The US’s, and world’s, failure on Gaza seems to reflect decades of learned helplessness. An ideology that tells us there’s nothing we can but react to terms others lay out for us.

But these are all deliberate choices.

And we can all choose differently.
